Hi. I added my state to my profile just now, thanks for the suggestion. The issue happened in Maryland. I mostly play in Maryland, but I play wherever I travel.

I don't think it was the store's main console being down because I was able to check various other tickets without issue. I have 2 theories. 1) the book was not acticaact, but sucks that the error message said file claim, they should have a more appropriate error message and 2) there is somwsomet faulty with that specific book of tic... The issue happened in Maryland. I have won there so I will continue to play in MD, plus I like the anonymous claiming option.

My largest win to date was in Virginia so I continue to play there a few times month.

Good intel, but would be even more so if you mentioned the state or put it in your profile.

The store's system was down, that might be a clue why you were getting what may be a generic error message hard wired into the machine, though it did scan the $3 winner so there may be some independence or the connection was sporadic. The more tech the weirder things get . . .

You sometimes see the lottery putting out a message saying that the time limit to cash a large prize ticket is about to expire. I wonder how many of those tickets, (and smaller winners) were thrown out because the scanner said, Not A Winner.

ALWAYS check you own tickets.

FYI...my favorite states to play scratch off tix is New York and Virginia because they have large prizes for relative small ticket prices. I particularly like Virginia because in addition to checking the scanner you can check the letters by the barcode that will spell out the winnings. Win I won $10K the letters found were T T O.

So you learn something new everyday...and I thought I should share.

SUMMARY FOR THOSE WHO DON'T LIKE READING LONG POSTS: DON'T TRUST THE MACHINE TO CHECK YOUR TICKETS AS IF IT IS 100% ACCURATE.

So my luck usually comes in bundles, in 2016 I won $2500 (draw games) back to back 3x. In 2017, quite a few $500 winners then a $10,000 win at the end of the year (from a five dollar scratch off).
