There's a very unique town in southern Indiana called New Harmony. everyone should visit it for a history lesson.

It attempted to be a utopian colony several times butas one of the guidebooks say, While the intellectuals spent the winter discussing philosophy and politics inside, the hogs ate that coming winter's crops outside.

Also has a very unique cemetery with no headstones or markers of any kind.

Coin Toss. Never visited Evansville. Did not know they had a zoo. Humidity is terrible and winters are brutal. No excuse not to have good grades in Northern Indiana due to staying inside to avoid the weather. Lol

I plan on staying right here in Texas. Cost of living is low. Red state, except Austin.

We might move out to Possum Kingdom, or maybe down to the Hill Country. I do want to get out of the DFW metroplex.

There's (or was) a gym in Evansville called The Pit that's one of the best in the U.S. People would come in and ask ask about aerobics or cardio and were shown a duffel bag filled with sand.

To each their own but I'd take Flagstaff over Phoenix every time.

Artist77, I lived in Evansville for two years, best place I've lived in the Midwest. Letterman called it the biggest little city no one knows about.

Unfortunately it's right on the Ohio river. Something I'll never do again is live that close to a river.

It's said there are only about a handful of major markets that are worthwhile if you are urbane inclined.

Naturally people can be happy anywhere, but if you are a sun worshipper it can be a choice of 150 days vs 300

Northern Indiana is like living in a freezer 6 months of the year, high crime, run down cities, and not much goes on in southern Indiana. Indianapolis is a poor excuse for a big city state capital. The state does have some of the best private schools in the country but public transportation in very limited and there is no culture in the state. At least Chicago has real museums and transportation systems. Give me a real city any day. I turned down jobs in that state when I graduated.

That was a ridiculous write up on Indiana and to make it worse to live here than Illinois!! Seriously!! The entire state is not in Tornado Alley and our water is fantastic!! The only air pollution in the state is up in Gary which is really a suburb of Chicago. Southern Indiana is beautiful with all the hills and northern Indiana is full of lakes, trees and green grass and fields.

How severe is the area substance abuse . . because that epidemic is EVERYWHERE!

How long does it take to see a doctor . . which may be MONTHS in some areas!
