The Michigan Lottery website indicated that they used to have a six-digit kicker game like Ohio has. If I remember correctly, they were doing this in the early 1990s. I would like more states to have them since you can have MMDDYY combos winning the lottery.

I know someone born on 03/01/57, and 570301 once won the Ohio Kicker.

Yes, I bought on Tuesday when there were only about 50,000 left. I wouldn t be surprised if they re sold out by Monday.

I'm still trying to figure out why I see people buy a couple few $30 scratchers but they won't buy a Raffle ticket. The odds of winning $4,000,000 on the newest $30 scratcher here are 3,000,000 to one while the odds for the same on this Raffle are TEN TIMES better at 300,000 to one!

Did you get your one last ticket that you were talking about earlier

I wasn t surprised that the draw date was extended. I don t think I have ever played a raffle where that didn t happen. I was only surprised that they were extending it so long. It seems like they will most likely sell out by the end of next week and could have drawn then. As of 11pm on 9/18 they had less than 45,000 tickets left.

Michigan is a RIP OFF, and people know it, that's why they haven't sold out. Do the math, its not worth it for $50.00, you'll do better sticking to the p3 and 4 games

They have extended the date on every limited ticket Raffle they have had so far. They usually sell all the tickets before they do a draw.

I just got on to see how many tickets are left and see that they have now changed the drawing date to October 3rd. With only 57,027 tickets left I am a little disappointed they are waiting so long.

Thanks for the update! I am watching the numbers on the website and I think I will plunk down some money when there are 50K or so left. For no real reason. I just like the thought of that.

I am shocking myself on this one. I am seriously considering taking the annuity for the jackpot. Lucy usually wants the loot upfront! But that annuity amount would allow early retirement without having to tap the retirement well to soon...I must need more sleep.

My Super Raffle ticket for the October 6th 2008 drawing says that that drawing would be on Oct 6th or within 10 days of sellout

The prizes 10 years ago were

2 - $1,300,000 ($2,000,000 annuity)

20 - $100,000

4000 - $500

10000 - $100

I'm not in this raffle because I live in New York State. I just took a look at the Michigan Lottery website, which I should have done before I first posted in this thread.

This raffle isn't bad, but I've seen better raffles offered in Florida and Pennsylvania. I'm not impressed by the $50 price of a ticket, but apparently players in Michigan aren't bothered by it as there about 121,000 ticket remaining. I think it boils down to this; Not very many players think about or even care about buy in vs. payout.

As for me personally, it's the low odds that get me pumped about raffles. IMHO, all lottery games are a sucker bet anyway, so if I'm going to waste my money on a sucker bet I might as well do it on one with win-able odds. G5

Interesting that they'll extend the date to sell all 300,000 tickets. I've seen other states do that, but more often than not, they've simply held the drawing on the date originally published. G5

They are close to covering the prizes now. They need to sell about 180,000 to cover the prizes and about 200,000 to cover prizes and expenses which would mean about the last 100,000 are the profit.

They will extend the date to sell all 300,000 tickets and typically what happens is that they sell out really fast after any extension but buyers who wait till after the extension typically don't get the big winners as they are most usually in the ticket range before any extension.

Thanks for putting in that perspective of how much you win per $1 spent. In Massachusetts, we have Mass Cash where the jackpot is $100,000 for a $1 play. And the odds for winning Mass Cash are about 1 in 325,000. And the odds for winning the $4,000,000 prize in the Michigan raffle are 1 in 300,000. So that really isn't a big difference. People in Massachusetts play the same line multiple times to win $100,000 multiple times. So I could do that instead which would save me a lot of gas money.... [ More ]

Any idea what they will do if not all of the tickets are sold? Will they extend the sale or just draw anyway? I am in no way saying that will happen. Just curious what their solution will be.

It does seem like ticket sales picked up over the long weekend. I bought one ticket at the very beginning and one in the middle. I had a little luck with another game and thinking I might reinvest the winnings with another one towards the end if I am out that way.

I'll never understand why people go gaga over raffles. Compared to lotto games relative to the buy in the payouts on raffles stink.

This one is a $50 ticket for a $4,000,000 prize.

So each dollar wins $80,000. Any lottery that had an $80,000 jackpot for a $50 ticket wouldn't get too far at all.

And I'll say it again, people who say they hate quick picks and can't wait to buy a raffle ticket really make me wonder.

Yep, I do believe that since it is Michigan only that you don't have to have your name released.

As far as the Prizes, I believe that the Raffles have a 60% payout which would make the top three prizes $2,600,000 cash and $1,300,000 and $1,300,000 cash.

Something else I should have added to my post above....

The Pennsylvania Lottery was well aware of sluggish ticket sales early in the sales cycle and actually did something to entice players to buy tickets sooner in the sales cycle than they normally had or did.

Let me start by saying I LOVE RAFFLES!

That said, $50 a ticket is pricey. Just two top prizes is a little thin too when you consider Pennsylvania used to offer four top prizes of 1 million dollars to each winner out of a possible total of 500,000 tickets sold at $20 each for their raffles. It was a lump sum payout. (minus taxes) Odds were 125,000 to 1. PA's raffle was held twice per year for about twenty years until this year. (Hope they bring it back for next New Years. I was in Michigan and bought one raffle ticket. If I go back before they re all sold out I might pick up another one. It looks like they ve sold almost 1/3 of the tickets so far. The top two prizes ($4 million and $2 million) being annuity prizes and not cash prizes seems to be a sticking point with some people I have talked to about the game but it is fine by me.

Am I correct in thinking that since it is a Michigan only game it can be claimed anonymously?

Oops, before anyone asks, I am working on the 6/47 right now. It is one of the bigger jackpots since 2009. It seems like everything worth doing all happens at the same time!

The Fantasy Five just had a record Jackpot and the 6/47 is in the top ten Jackpots in the last 10 years and then they come out with the Super Raffle! Once the 6/47 is won (by me )I hope that the games will reverse the trend and get better like this Raffle has.

I liked the 6/40, 6/44, and 6/47 Ball drawn games and the 56/46 Megamillions game but this new Super Raffle has got to be one of the Best games the Michigan lottery has ever offered!

If they would double the top prizes and keep the lower prizes the same but double the Number of $100,000 and lower prizes and charge $100 per ticket I would play only that game twice per year.

I don't understand why the people who play $20 and $30 scratchers aren't jumping all over the $50 Raffle tickets... [ More ]
