ok... don't shoot me, but I would take the annuity option.

I have a partner who spends what's in his pocket/account with nary a thought of anything else. He would blow through 15B$ just as quick as 1M$. so that way each year I would get to take out budget money and then know I was kissing everything else g'bye till the next payment.

By the way, if you haven't read The Snowflake: Warren Buffett and the Business of Life , by Alice Schroeder, I highly recommend it. It's a biography, but he cooperated with the author. Almost an autobiography, but it gets rather down dirty, probably more so than the ever so humble Oracle of Omaha would have set down onto paper.

There is something about carpentry, at least for me, that is uniquely satisfying. I love the math behind a project, I guess. I don't know how else to express it. For me, it's less art than math. I estimate a project, draw it out, calculate the dimensions and the cost... And then, when it's complete, I can sit back and admire... :) As far as investing goes, I like to set it and forget it insofar as possible. Thank You lowellm! I also have two brothers who are carpenters. Superintendents now.

Warren Buffet loves Coca-Cola as well. J J and General Mills, etc.

So you are investing in Stocks and Real Estate. A major win here will propel you where ever you want to go.

lowellm, You are correct about taxes.

Do you have experience living through a recession with investments? Mild or Severe recession.

Will you diversify your investments? Stocks, Bonds, Mutual Funds, Muni's, real estate, appreciating assets.

Dividends are cash flow investments.

Cash! Taxes are low (you never know where taxes will be over the span of 29 years), and I can easily quadruple the money over the same span of time, while living off of the dividends.

Cash.... no way of knowing what the Fed Taxes will be in 10,15 or 25 years for the annuity option...or if the state you live in will change it's stance on a state income tax or interest income.... Pool I am in agrees on cash
