Simpsonville is a suburb of Greenville, which is a small city. You have to go further out to find small towns.

They may feel different being small town folk. Simpsonville, SC is a town of only about 2200 people.

They may not think like us big city people.

I'm not saying that they're not smart, just that nothing from the big bad world can hurt them.

Personally, I would stay anonymous; but, I keep thinking about the folks who went on the Today show. Even if they did not have the option to remain anonymous, they could have collected in a much quieter manner. Some don t mind the publicity, apparently. Not for me.

I assume since SC is an anonymous state per state law, state lottery officials would have to advise the winner of the anonymous option...and the pros and cons. If the winner thinks they merit the public level of attention as a cure for cancer, the lottery officials could not force the winner to remain anonymous.

Just trying to figure out what you were thinking when you asked the question. What reason do you think a winner would have to reveal him/herself if they win in a state that doesn't ask them to? Why would they want the public to know they won a huge amount of money

I would definitely want to be anonymous. I would think publicity from a big jackpot would endanger me as well as my family (including in laws). I would hire a bodyguard first.

Jerry...if you had won in a state that allows anonymity, would you ? Reasonable assumption tends to think nobody in their sane mind would want the attention. But with some people today, that pay attention to me mentality supersedes sound judgment. Time will tell
