MGM Resorts has closed on its $850 million purchase of Empire City Casino and Yonkers Raceway. The deal was finalized Tuesday after the state Gaming Commission approved licenses for MGM to own and operate the video-lottery terminal parlor and harness track. The purchase comes as MGM expands its presence in the Northeast after opening MGM Springfield in Massachusetts last year.
