Frenzy, mania occurs with big jackpots.

I have seen people at the ATM getting $1,500.00 for 50 Thirty Dollar tickets. 500 quick picks with Powerplay. The clerk counts the money, programs the terminal to print the tickets. Large orders, there's a progress indicator with a grey bar that moves to 100%. The sound of the printer continuously printing those large orders sticks in my brain.

I have seen people playing $1,000.00 on Lotto.

I watched a video of a CA Lottery commission meeting where they discussed jackpot fatigue. Their sales data showed that CA PB and MM ticket purchases sharply increased when the advertised annuity amounts went over 500 million. May be similar in other states.

I knew of a guy who spent $600 on one of the jackpot games. Day after he only won $3. Somebody may want to tell him to spend less.

Is there jackpot fatigue until Powerball hits one billion something? I know it's luck and everything, but still is there less people buying?

I mean I guess some people want to wait until the clock hits One Billion Dollars
