I'm pointing the finger at AllenB (with no offense)!

But gap wasn't on my radar since I was busy with the root sum idea (which I'm still working on).

There are several threads on Gap Strategy here at LP so I've played with it (some), but never got serious about it until it was mentioned here. I still didn't think I'd spend a great deal of time on it, but I am, for whatever reason.

Here are the results of Gap Codes for OH 5/39 game after 5218 drawings.

For column definitions, I'll use Perm Group 18 for example.

Perm Group (18) and Gap Codes (1140) = there are 1140 Gap Codes that each contain 18, five number permutations.

Total Perms (20520) = the total number of five number permutations contained in the Perm Group (18 x 1140).

Times Drawn = how many times Gap Codes from Group 18 have been drawn.

Since these Code show very few Repeats (so far) you could Remove the 185 Codes that have hit, reducing the number of lines.

I assume you Selected 1140 Codes and then found that 185 of them have already hit.

Allen, you have me hooked on the gaps. If I end up eating crow, I'm ok with that.

I randomly picked the 1140 Gap Codes, with 18 permutations each, for a total of 20,520 lines to choose from. They have the most overall 5/5 hits at 185.

What this means to me is rather than having 575,757 lines to filter, I can reduce that down to 20,520 lines. I only have a 1 in 28 chance (3.57%) of any 1 of those lines hitting, but I'm not looking to win a jackpot each time I play. I will continue to look a... [ More ]

I'm ignoring the overall gap for the time being. Instead I'm using the four gaps between each number in an effort to determine which sets produce the most winners.

Back to Books strategy...I'm looking for a 1-1-2-2-2. Played pattern 1-2-2-2-2 and 1-2-2-2-3 once or twice...Only 7 two's in the 14th round of drawings..That's only happened 3 times. Six 2's has never occurred. So betting the 1's that will turn into 2's as my key. Played Five different pairs and one triple..Plus played the 3-2/2-3 odd/even strategy.

Never be afraid to pursue an idea. We each exercise a unique point of view. We can all look at the same data and see different ways to interpret it which means there is no singular right way.

I'm continuing to run this program. I may stop, determine the limits for each position and rewrite it. As it looks a 5/35 game will bottom out(zero out) at 1 2 27 4. If that happens, then everything from 1 2 27 4 to 1 2 35 4 will be zeros as well. That means a lot less gap codes than fir... [ More ]

I'm not suggesting you stop traveling down the Gap path, I'm just saying it is not one I see as being beneficial to ME. I do not have all of the answers here, and I think it's wise that we each choose to follow data trails that we feel could be the most beneficial. I have no problem supplying Gap data for OH 5/39 game if you need it.

Keeping up with the Code requires at most 6 Columns of Data + a Structure and Structure#. This could be reduced to 2 Columns by combining the Total Gap with the other 4. This is a Code that is only a about 10% for Far. A Rule here might be to play only those combinations from the pool that have not hit before.

You seem to be right. Just doing the primary there is going to be a ton to keep up with. I dropped the p5-p1 for this one.

1234 starts with 25 combinations and end with 7 zeros, and 1244 starts with 24 combinations and ends with 8 zeros, 1254 starts with 23 combinations and ends with 9 zeros, and that patterns is continuing. We could fill in the blanks until the starting number hits 1, then start with 24 hits in the next round (I think).

I agree that Gap Codes are not a good Active Filter.

I do not however, think they should be pronounced as dead. Instead they should be moved to the end of the line and used to evaluate combinations produced by other methods. I have suggested (to no response) that the difference between the highest and lowest numbers can be used to identify an additional group within a set of combinations so produced. I finally figured out how to get the patterns in numerical order. Row twos pattern would read 23113...The second picture is how I got them in order. Plus anything higher than a 3 was changed to a 3 in the pattern. As you can see at the bottom of the spreadsheet...I have patterns from 1 to 14 rounds and the 28th round..Just got to plug in 15-27. It shouldn't take long. Still plugging away. Got some more ideas.

I haven't completely given up on Gaps as a stand alone filter. I guess it is the Attractiveness of the P1_P5 Gaps from 30-38 that has me curious enough to try to do the impossible and write a formula to try to get P2,P3,P4 gaps based on gap history.

I say that while feeling like my head is pinned between two walls. I know it is the same, but there is no banging sound. Just those Crickets.

The more I look at this, I am thinking that My focus will be on the Total Gap, P1-P5 and I will use it to evaluate and filter combinations produced by other methods. I think filtering by all gaps is going to be impossible. I have already set it up in Excel and it is (I think) unmanageable, Not to mention Mass Quantities of Combinations in the output

Perhaps try to use the Gap Code contingent on the sum range? Or (sum range plus) minimum and max of each position, and maybe other variables?

That should take out some of the less probable combinations.

The P5-P1 here is a minimum of 6 with a high of 34. And an average of 23.702. The P2-P1, P3-P2, P4-P3, P5-P4 average between 5.8 to 6.1. Haven't found the minimum and max yet. Suffice to say there is one double digit jump in a large percentage of the draws. Maybe do min and max for al... [ More ]

I have not counted the codes myself. I did create a History using P1_P5, P1_P2, P3_P4,(P4_P5). (P4_P5) is calculated [P1_P5 - Sum(P1_P2+P2_P3+P3_P4)]. The First thing that I noticed was that most of the Codes selected in 9000+/- Draws were drawn only once. If your count is correct only about 10% have been used to date.

What about taking the Total Gap only. When we See some reason to Select this Gap it could be used to Weed Combinations from Other methods. Doing so might eliminate enough combi... [ More ]

I hadn't thought about going the route you took, but it looks like something to consider.

Been time trying to determine a pattern between the repeating numbers and the twins. So far nothing to share in that area. Some days it works, others it falls off the map.

You are probably Not Wrong, so your your reluctance is understood.

This is turning out to be an entirely different System that may or may not be useful.

Don't waste your math time.

If you take anything from my flavor, You might want to add the 1 Off Pair to your analysis. I have noticed that Those pairs hit at almost the same rate as the Twins.

I'll modify your question by replacing which with the correct and say, I don't know. I can, however tell you what I am looking at.

The whole thing is growing larger. Now with 10 Columns of Pairs per Draw Each which expands by 3 more columns to include Hit Count, Skip, and Block. Extend that to the Gaps and Gap Deltas adds 8 more columns.

Let me begin by Stating that I do Not yet understand anything that the Book Says about a Method of Selecting Pairs. That Being said, I understand what a Twin is. Of the 741 Pairs in Fantasy 5, Twins are largest Group at 38. Similarly the Next Largest Group has a difference (Gap) of 2. There are 37 of these Gap 2 Twins. Go ahead and share your ideas. I think there is more than one way into using the books methods. I have patterns for not only the 14th round of drawings. But from 1 to 28 round drawings. I know the two thirds rule applies to the last 14 draws because that s 70 numbers (powerball 69 numbers). But whose to say that another round isn t easier to predict. You talk about gaps between pairs. I ve thought about lengths of gaps between numbers in different rounds as a 1,2 or 3.

In Current Round:

No Hits (0) are a -3 (3 less than expected)

One Hits (1) are a - 4 (4 less than expected)

Two Hits (2) are a + 4 (4 more than expected)

Three Hits (3) are a +3 (3 more than expected)

In 6 drawings, 18-19 (currently a 2) will drop off and become a 1

In 12 drawings, 31-32 (currently a 2) will drop off and become a 1

In 15 drawings, 53-54 (currently a 2) will drop off and become a 1

For Powerball (69 balls = 68 Twins)

2346 pairs / 68 Twins = 35 (rounded up)

10 pairs per draw, 1 Twin for every 35 pairs = 1 Twin every 3.5 draws

Round length for Twins = 238 drawings (3.5 * 68)

Expected Twin Uniques = 45

Expected Twin NoHits = 23

Expected Twin Ones = 30

Expected Twin Twos = 10

Expected Twin Threes+ = 4

I have the spreadsheets, but do my final breakdown of the powerball on paper, assisted by my spreadsheet data. This picture shows what the numbers look like after 13 draws. That's after 65 numbers have been drawn. There's 23/0's...32/1's...10/2's...3/3's and 1/4...The X'ed out numbers in the 0 to 1 row are the numbers that are still zeros after 28+ drawings..11-13-22-38 and 58...I decided those won't come in for certain reasons. I'm not sure when, if ever, I will release my program. Igor and I both agreed that if the program is not able to produce positive winning results, then it should not be released to the public. Most people want a program that does all the work for them, including choosing the correct winning numbers. My program is far from achieving that goal.

LOL......if they have wifi I could go sit in the deli area and have a snack while filling out playslips!

Hate to brag about the hometown but the owner went all out to bring this new place in. He owned one of the two convenience stores in town, plus the supermarket. So he combined them into a one stop mom and pop shop. He has something 28 (convenience) stores in Texas and Oklahoma and turning them all into markets with gas, deli, butcher, vegetables, and grocery.

I have not looked at the 2/3 Balance. Probably because I was to stubborn to by he Book. I'll do a Search of those Games. As I recall given the Rolling Cycle or round, the Balance moves Gradually at a low % and shows definite Trends. The Search is to see if that balance has an effect on the Block Values.

That Being said That is only Step 1

I am not asking for any secretes, just what you think about Cycling and Structuring of your Secondary Filters

Thanks Allen. I mainly track the plus or minus for each structure block. As in yesterday's example, the 000 block had a +5, 001 was -3 and 002 was -2. There are other tracking variables, but I'll not get into that here. The excess +/- does not happen every day, so I wait for the data to tell me when it's time to play. The 2/3 rule stays pretty true for the most part, but it will go out of line from time to time, and when it does, I'm in.

I've noticed a few who watch the Pick 3 pre-tests say when their numbers pop up in the those. So it has to be before the draw, but not exactly sure how long before the draw those are put up.

I can't think of one posted system that is more complete than this one. He tells you what he charted, why it was charted and how to use it to derive the numbers you play. (Although I'm still not up to speed on that 001,002,003 structure he uses).

MrB, Very Nice Presentation. We are using the Same Process to Calculate Structures. The 5 Elements of the structure are what I call Blocks. Blocks are derived from the Rounds or Cycles and are 1,2,or 3. Structures also have a Cycle. Do you Track a Block for the Structure itself? I have been trying a Process where I Select a Block (1,2 or 3) for the Structure and then Try to use Skips or some other method to get a Structure. I had the correct structure selected, 001 001 001 002 003, but that still left me with 1185 sets to play. No, I did not have the correct filter(s) selected, so I missed the winning 10 11 16 19 29 line.

I find quite often where I select the correct structure, but have yet to select the correct filter(s). I felt 3, no hit numbers would be drawn, and they were (11, 16, 19). I also had the 4G0, 4G1, 4G2, and 4G3 selected. Those are the decade groups, and I felt 4 grouped decade numbers coming... [ More ]

The six numbers that haven't hit in awhile are

57..thirty six draws..hit last night

11..forty eight draws..(just looked up...11 had hit back to back right before going cold...plus hit 3 out of 4 draws..WOW!!)

13...thirty draws

22...sixty five draws

38..thirty draws

58..thirty seven draws

I could tally up all the zeros(=non hit) for each number on my spreadsheet and figure out what the longest or average

I play powerball and have learned that when a number or numbers are about to go cold cold which I have had set to 30 draws forever, at either drawing 29 or 30 98% of the time either one of the numbers going cold cold is drawn or a cold cold number. I purchased the kindle version. What a nasty waste of money that is. I blew up my brain trying to see graphs, etc. Total waste of money here. I believe he has the trick to a point though.

Thanks for the heads up on the rolling cash five. I live in Ohio. I play it once in awhile..So are you going to use some pairs or repeats in those tickets. How about listing the 1's, 2's and 3's so I can create some tickets. I haven't tackled the cash five yet when it comes to spreadsheets. Maybe I should, 30 numbers less and the tickets are only a buck a piece compared to the powerball.

I agree, for me, the Kindle version just made it too difficult to follow along. The book is much better IMO.

I use the Igor method to play the OH 5/39 game, but ONLY when the timing seems right, like now. There are currently 5 too many no hits, as well as a shortage of 1 hits and 2 hits. I would expect no less than 3 no hits to be drawn very soon. I'll be leaning towards structures 001-001-001-002-003 and 001-001-001-002-002.

The conditional probability of a particular number showing up in the next drawing has nothing to do with whether it was drawn in a previous drawing. All the drawings are independent of one another, with all the winning numbers being replaced back in the drum.

Excluding these numbers 11-13-22-38-57-58...The reason being...After the last 28 draws in the powerball..These six numbers haven't hit. For one of these to hit..That would take it down to five numbers that haven't hit..There's only 14 instances where five numbers haven't hit since the new powerball format..here's the breakdown

28 drawings (140 numbers)..This is a running count of 28 drawings..So a drawing would be added and one dropped.

I'm been looking over my data. Last 17 draws in the powerball, there has been 3 drawings with a single number that has hit back to back. The average for 18 draws is 5. Going to play a repeat number..I'm throwing out 66 from the last drawing..66 came up 4x in the last ten drawings..For it to come up a 5th time in eleven drawings would make it only the 4th time that's happened...So 66 is a throw out...Watch it come in..LOL!! The Law of Large Numbers (a.k.a. the Central Limit Theorem ) says that as the number of independent trials goes up, the variance goes down and the mean (average) of the trials will approach the expected value. It has absolutely nothing to do with with predicting the next drawing... something that simply cannot be done (other than cheating).

Definitely some good points.

Texas just doesn't seem to have good luck with their five ball games. The 5/39 failed for various reasons, most stemming from poor sales and lack of winners, which go hand in hand. No ones winning, no ones buying.

They rode the 5/37 into the dirt with parimutuel payouts until it ate dust paying out below $8000 per jackpot.

Now, on the other end of the spectrum 17,23 has hit 10 times, (about 1:20) defeating the Law, the rule, and most common sense.

The sample of 192 draws is obviously way too small for the Law of large numbers to apply. As the time goes by the pair 11,12 will start hitting for sure. The problem is: can you time it? I don't believe so although lucky shots are always possible.

The deeper I get into replicating statistics for the Texas 5/35, the more I reminded of the Law of Large Numbers.

Seems that (Law of Large Numbers) is the true obstacle in prediction, whether by computer or human logic. You can have the greatest prediction in the world for tonight's draw and the Law will not guarantee it (but it does not deny that possibility).

I did break the Texas 5/35 in rounds of 7 draws and found the 2/3 rule valid. In the first round (of 7 draws) we're getting between 21 and 27 individual numbers. The second round (7 draws) we get 4 to 10, third round (7 draws) 2 to 3 (which at times complete the matrix). On other occasions we go to 5 or 6 rounds (7 draws each) to get the additional ball or two... [ More ]

You did read the book, LOL. When I was loaned the book I did a series of screen shots of the

important stuff then rearranged everything into a picture slide show. Since the book was loaned

I deleted it after I had read it several times.

I did find however that some of his post claiming all other methods were inferior a bit Braggadocious.
