Clearly I did not understand your post or your point!

Reading over your post it is easy to miss whether you are talking about total sales or sales for the previous jackpot.

The fact that the advertised JP's were out of line with the actual JPs was not missed.

At any rate the PB and MM are rotten awful games in their current forms and they are behaving more like quarterly raffles.

When PB offers another jackpot that's over $1 billion we'll see if anything changes, but right now our best data comes from MM's more recent effort. Powerball and Megamillions in their current forms are boring and take too long to win! Who says you cant still have powerball and megamillions tickets for $2 but change them both to be better games and still have the billion dollar raffles?

In case anyone hasn't noticed we have yet another top 25 jackpot on the Mega millions which is a common thing these days with longer and longer rolls and fewer jackpots being awarded. Look at both game behaviors since the odds have gone insane.

Billion Dollar Jackpots are fine but they should be done with Raffles.

When PB set the record they sold about 635 million tickets for the record jackpot of $1.59 billion and 440 million tickets for the jackpot of $948 million. 30 months later MM only sold 370 million tickets for a jackpot of $1.54 billion. In PB or MM $2 has a shot at winning multi-millions.

In even just a $1M raffle with an entry fee of $10 every dollar wins $100,000. Whoop tee do.

I was exaggerating a bit about the billion, but I think you know what I was getting at. Lets face it, people don't get real interested in playing when the jackpots are less then 100M. That's not enough money, but I doubt anyone would turn it down if it was handed to them.

It starts getting around 500M and up everybody buys a ticket. People wanted larger jackpots, now they have them.

Billion Dollar Jackpots are fine but they should be done with Raffles. Maybe a multi state quarterly or semi annual raffle.

The high odds are leading to longer rolls and bigger jackpots to the point that with the time and money involved the super big jackpots could be better accomplished with raffles.

Then the multi states could go back to 150 million to 600 million dollar jackpots being won more often. Doesn't a 100 million dollar or 200 million dollar jackpot do anything for you... [ More ]

There have been two Jackpots over One Billion dollars. That would mean that roughly every 1 3/4 years most people play.

You may have the time for that but a lot of regular/semi-regular players don't.

Speaking of time, you also may not know that you have a Ten Times better chance of dying in a fatal car crash (like maybe on the way to buying a ticket) than you do of winning the PowerBall or Mega Millions Jackpots.

They don't care what the players want. They know they can make up the difference(less players) when the jackpot gets really high. To me it's like a printer. They sell you a printer really cheap knowing that the cartridge ink is where they make the real money. Why did you think they don't make the lower tier prizes more enticing? My advice is to play just a few bucks(you gotta be in it to win it).

It is about time that they normally make changes to powerball but I have not heard any rumblings about it.

I guess they are out of ideas and we are going to be stuck with a game that just rolls and rolls with few winners and no decent prizes.

I tried doing a search but only found the old changes from over 3 and a half years ago.

Powerball is getting super tiresome with very few jackpot prizes and few second prizes.

Sigh, maybe with the super long roll times they are also
