I really like this idea a whole lot!! PLUS, people seem to forget that you can be somewhat anonymous by forming a trust before you claim your winnings through an attorney, then claim the winning AFTER the trust is setup, choose a name like you would for a business and thats it.

The lottery is public domain, and most lotteries, like here in New York, will publish your entire name and the town where you live, making even worse and winners subject to all kinds of harassment, threats and dangerous liaisons. Thats why I prefer to play games like Pick 10, if you win a jackpot, no name, just the store where the winning ticket was sold. I could win the Pick 10 20 times and no name of location published about the winner

Lottery Officials to change the rule to complete anonymity in all 50 States

Unfortunately, there is not a federal-level agency that regulates lotteries and sets uniform polices across all the states. Each state that has a lottery (and several do not have any) sets its own rules. The organizers of multi-state lotteries, such as MUSL that administers Powerball, have no say in anonymity laws. They don't have any regulatory powers. So, if you live in a state where you cannot claim anonymously or... [ More ]

Lotteries are required to be honest in nature. It wouldn't be very ethical for them to lie about a winner under the guise of who was the real winner.
