I agree with what you're saying...we have one that will give a 5 one month the best you can give and then turn around the very next month and give the same thread a 1 the worse you can give and the post on the thread are basically the same and as a matter of fact some of the posters on the thread have even tried harder.

I know for a fact they have so if that person thinks I'm going to have a hissy fit just because I started the thread over their dumb rating they're mistaken....they never ever... [ More ]

I very rarely even look at the ratings but I also know to disregard low ratings from the well known trolls. And, yes, I am sure it gives the trolls a false sense of empowerment, but they likely don't have much else going on. As they say, consider the source.

You can do the most flawless job on something and there will always be one person, likely jealous, who will disagree.

What I find troubling are those who validate their self-worth by the ratings they get on their threads. What I find amusing are those who attribute some ulterior motive to someone's rating. Then again, as long as they're a member here, then when someone calls me the most ignorant person in this forum, I can point to those people and say Nuh uh

True Artist but I'm pretty sure some of those 1 stars are for spite and spite only, gives some people a very false sense of empowerment.

Scratch the surface and you'll see some who give 1 star ratings have never started a thread, speaks volumes.

Also, that particular thread started in 2014, that's quite a while ago.

It is the internet and I view those low ratings as questioning the usefulness of those transcripts. No different than a book review. You have to take the good with the bad ratings.

Sure it's a lot of copy and paste but why criticize it so

IMO, if management allows/encourages rating threads than any criticism should be directed at management and not at the people using that option.

If Todd allow us to rate blogs, I'd give any blog which has same old political rants a 1 star. I don't care if u like Trump or hate him, this is lotterypost, not politicalpost. Enuff already

Stars are overrated anyway IMHO. I give them if a post is good. But a Like (Thumb ups) is better. Its much easier to determine if you like a post than how much you like it. And without a Thumbs down option no one knows who doesn't like it since all anyone see is the likes.

I would rather a person post to say whether they like or don't like it. Stars are not feedback (and I'm guilty of giving stars without posting as well).

I've also had others who rate with one stars and fortunately they are no longer members here.

(starting to think it was the same person under different names, just petty! only in their minds

leaving one star is really doing something, didn't bother me one bit!).

Vergie......ya knoooooow, some folks wouldn't be happy if you hung em with a new rope !!! There will always be the habitual offenders at complaining. Take them with a grain of salt, give them the finger from behind the screen and keep on posting. Ratings are over-rated (imho) just as some folks egos.

Calling it like we see it is why I thought the star rating was just an option where discussions could be rated without actually posting like/dislike or agree/disagree. You're probably right about anonymous rating because apparently some thread starters take it personal when someone gives their thread less than a 5 star .

I try limiting my ratings to topics I thing are excellent or terrible unless I thing it would get a laugh countering a 5 star with a 1 star or viceversa like I did with one... [ More ]

There's only one person whose threads I rate one star, and I won't apologize for it. He posts the same incomprehensible drivel over and over, and butts into other threads with gibberish. I call it like I see it.

I think the star rating should be anonymous so people feel more comfortable giving honest assessments of the quality of discussion, that way you could skim the titles and see which threads are worth reading based on their average rating. As it is, most threads are either unrated or ra... [ More ]

I was wondering if it bothers anyone about the ratings others give the states especially in p3.

What bothers me is most of the time the ones who seem to give bad ratings are the ones who

hardly ever offer any help to the thread or even post much if any at all.

Also if they're going to give a bad rating I think it would be nice if they came on the thread posted

what it was that caused them to give a bad rating so we could try harder to correct it.
