Yes, that's true.

If you don't buy any tickets, your odds of winning are impossible to win.

By buying at least one ticket, your odds go from impossible to improbable.

You can't win it, if you're not in it

I've cashed tickets in the powerball the last 3 drawings. When you cash out something, it's always a good thing. Plus it keeps the fire burning. $110 bucks, which is about 40 bucks more than I spent. Just missed hitting three numbers and the powerball. Had the three numbers on one line and the powerball number five times. Just not on the same line as the three numbers. I cannot play the lottery daily like i used to, it ate up my money. I can only look at the numbers called after a draw. aND IF I AM LUCKY PLAY A FEW TIMES A WEEK OR LESS.

I started playing the lottery about 15 years ago. Usually played pet numbers (address, birthdays etc). Over the years I have hit the pick four straight about 3 times. Pick 3 maybe 4 times. I have hit the triples about 3 times. In August of this year I started running down the numbers for the pick four evening. I miss a lot of the numbers but do see them in my rundowns. If KY had a 5/39 game, it would be my game of choice because I believe there are sound strategies that win enough to keep players in the game. Another method that has potential is using the order numbers are placed in a 2 if 5 of 39 number wheel.

People who keep playing for so long do it for two main reasons imo.

1) Desperation

This reason is different for all players and their particular life experiences. Illness, unhappiness, confusion, broken heart... who knows for sure. Lottery can break many people and banks I am sure. Its not the playing so much that is important, but the workout. My workout is intense and precise. Only the doubting of Thomas can undo this reality.

2) Success

If you are desperate but you cant win, then

Spending money on the lottery adds up quick, doesn t it. I spent 30 bucks on the powerball drawing last night. Getting back 8 bucks. A net los of 22. I added up all my losing tickets since December...1000 bucks...cashed in 160 dollars in winners I ve had for several weeks..Still down 900.

for now since i started sytems and some software...its pretty interesting for me as i learn new methods i have won a handful of pick 3s straight which has kept my interest int hat but i have always been a player of the bigger games iguess its the dream of financial freedom one day that keeps me looking at the numbers

We certainly have more game choices today, but the odds of winning some of the games are so bad, IMO it's not worth playing them every drawing. As a rule of thumb, I only play PB and/or MM with their jackpot reach $400 million so those fires went out for me a long time ago. When I lived in Ohio, made some nice hits playing Ohio Lotto games and Rolling Cash 5, but since the KY Lottery doesn't offer those type games, most of my lottery play here is pick-4 and Keno.

I have been playing powerball and oregon megabucks for 22 years and mega millions since the crossover in 2010. I myself buy maybe one or two tickets usually so it is like a hobby of mine to buy tickets. I am happy to win small prizes when they come because I usually lose but I like to chase the jackpots with my deposable income after I pay everyone of my bills that come around every month. What keeps us going is knowing that the game can be beaten. Not necessarily every day but often enough to win several times a week. All you need to do is pick one digit correctly.

Gotta piggy back off of what Raven posted. I'd have to say it started with the very simple vision of what was actually discovered as being 'attainable' during the entire trial and error, winning with balanced losing proving grounds. This is only Pick3/4 I'm talking about because anything larger requires pure, unadulterated luck unless you can find the coin to actually implement a viable system. I just started on this quest of trying to hit the lottery. Last year it was all on paper. Recently I ve moved to excel. It s a time consuming endeavor. But it beats watching tv or drinking.
