Increase funding for education? LOL!!! For years the State education budget has decreased by whatever amount they get from the lottery so there is no net gain for education in Ca from the lottery.

I used to buy a $5 QP for each draw. Now I buy a $1 QP so that's $416/year they lost from me.

ISSUE

The California State Lottery (Lottery) proposes regulation amendments to modify the

SuperLotto Plus annuity structure to a 5 percent graduated annuity rate, which will reduce

the prize expense and increase funding for education.

BACKGROUND

Currently, SuperLotto Plus has a 4 percent graduated annuity whereas Mega Millions

and Powerball have a 5

Consider CA has MM and PB, doubling the ticket price of SLP and playing for much smaller jackpots really doesn't make any sense. Lots of other options out there to consider and hopefully they are player friendly.

A memo and the proposed regulations were just posted regarding the regulation change. They are proposing to make the SuperLotto Plus annuity structure more backloaded--similar to the annuity structure of Powerball and Mega Millions.

I doubt they'll raise the price to $2.00 to be competitive with MEGA Millions or Powerball. I think they'll reduce the starting jackpot from 7 million down to a lesser amount. Reason being is SLP have had months of rollovers reaching 20m+. Then following a jackpot win its won again after one or two rollovers. The state then has the shell out another 7 million when they don't have that in the coffers. A comparable state like FL LOTTO starts at 2 million. FL lotto goes up at a minimum $500,000 eac... They'd better double the starting jackpot if they're going to make it a $2 game. I hope they don't make it one of those 3 lines for $5 games where you can only self-select one of the lines and the other two lines are forced quick picks.

if the price of the ticket is going to increase, it better be by no more than 5 cents. No way it goes up to $2.00 for a game that has a starting jackpot of $7 million.

Hopefully by Nov 22 they will have a transcript of the commission meeting up on the website. Besides raising the price I suppose they could also be planning to make it a computer PRNG game like all the other draw games. SLP is the only in-state game still drawn with actual balls in a machine. If they're going to change anything, it will be something that either raises more revenue or reduces their costs (or both!) Otherwise, why bother

On the agenda for the Nov 21 commission meeting, look at section 8 item f. What change to Superlotto Plus regulations are they planning? I hope not increasing the ticket price.
