Yeah. The Tx lottery commission isn't stupid. They also changed Pick 3 and Daily 4 from 2 draws a day to 4 draws. There are people that play all 4 draws and I will tell you there ain't no way a person is going to come out ahead playing all those draws. Especially on Pick 3. Now, on Daily 4, maybe, if the player hits a straight. There's 1252 draws a year, so a straight hit on Daily 4 would make a profit.

Pick 3 would require 3 straight hits to turn a profit which is possible, but....ehhh, not... [ More ]

Crazy to think that game draws 4 times a day in your state -

Wouldn't even know how I would do that if I did - play only certain draws off each other or just try to slam all 4 with the same number set?

Us simple folk in Wisconsin are only trusted with the 1-a-day.

May 4th. Evening draw. 12/12. $250,000.

I used to play this game a lot. Won more on this game than any other due to good overall odds 1 in 4.5. Typically won back about 40% of what I spent, which was way better than any other jackpot game. I would often play the same, or alternating numbers on the same draw to try to win $500,000. Once, I played alternating numbers 5 times same draw, won $50 five times for $250. Jackpot would have been $1,250,000.

That's why I'm BIG on Probability Math ,..

It guides you in picking the most probable numbers...

Its Laws doesn't consider filters or whatnot, other than what does or doesn't cross the threshold that invokes its laws!

Amalgamation era conformed Theorists on this site erroneously argue otherwise,..thinking one Clinical definition fits ALL .

Well for example:

Texas has 24 numbers - match/miss 12 - $250,000 - 1:2,704,156 odds

(my state) Wisconsin has 22 numbers - match/miss 11 - $100,000 - 1:705,432 odds

Different prizes but very different odds - still $2 a ticket.

Wisconsin draws once per day, Texas draws four times daily.

Wisconsin was supposed to get 2 draws a day starting May 1st - but postponed due to COVID per what I heard.

Not answering for Joey's State, but they are usually $2. per ticket in each State that carries the Game, .. the difference is the Top tier jackpot seems to vary.. some places, it's only $100,000..

Before it was discontinued here in Georgia, it was $250,000...

So, it looks as though, it wasn't a good value for the GLC... We wouldn't let'em screw us enough..

I absolutely agree, it was a terrible game and I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did.

All or Nothing isn't that good either but at least it allows players to choose their own numbers. That said, I've only played it once or twice. For $2 a play I prefer the chance at a higher jackpot than $100K.

Good stuff there. I agree with you about the function of lowest tier prize, it is only to get people back into the store to buy another ticket. You can't avoid tradeoffs when constructing draw game prize levels -- increase one thing, have to decrease another. I imagine the people who developed A-or-N tested different prize structures with focus groups and settled on the one that had the least negative feedback.

I used to play AoN a lot a couple years ago. I would play the same, or alternating numbers multiple times to increase any wins. The best I did was win $250 when I played 5 lines alternating numbers. Fact is, I won more money on this game than I ever have on any other game. Not to say I won a jackpot or even $500. But my return on what I spent was around 40%. No other game has done that, because the overall odds are better. But...the catch of course is the cost of play. So, I gave it up.

They could increase some of the prizes by eliminating the 4/12 and 8/12 prize levels.

Under the current rules, of the possible 5,408,312 outcomes, less than 600,000 collect a prize. Take out the 4 and 8 number matches, only 105,774 combos collect a prize. Most people look for ways to make a game better, not worse.

They come out with a choose-4-out-of-99 game

Cool, there are only 3,764,376 combos, but compared to most 5/39 games with 575,757 combos starting at $100,000, not a very goo... [ More ]

I don't care for this keno-lite type game, but you bring up a good point about the percentage paid out being a lot higher than some of the other draw games. A lot of players are not good enough at Probability Math (TM) to know which of their state's games pay out better than the average. They just see that it's a 12-number matching game and erroneously conclude that it must have worse odds than a 5- or 6-number matching game because 12 is bigger than 5 and 6. I use a simple system to predict the Texas All-or-Nothing game and have a good idea of what to expect. Made 311,752 predictions and about 22% won something so getting hit is expected but don't expect a profit because the majority of the wins are what you paid for the ticket. In Texas it's $2 a ticket and I get a few $10 every week that doesn't break me even. Get an occasional $50 winner, but can count on one hand the number of $500 winners.

Unfortunately the AorN jackpot here is only $100,000. And it's still $2 a ticket. That's just not worth it to me. I figure if I'm going to spend $2 I may as well just play MM or PB at that point.

The $2. per ticket was another reason I felt there was absolutely no way I'd try it... and for just $250 Grand?... haaa..!.. but it's also a sign that the Lottery needs more revenue to fund allegedly Education, but really it goes into the State's general funds..

True that All or Nothing is a dubious game but in Wisconsin it replaced a horrendous 5 Card Cash game that virtually no one seemed to ever win, or even play for that matter.

At least with AorN there seems to be winners every couple of weeks. I'm not saying it's a great game but it's definitely better than the game it replaced.

Hi Nikki, (and everyone)

I just saw a sign on a WI lottery vending machine the other day announcing that starting in May the All or Nothing, Pick 3 and Pick 4 will be going to two draws a day. (The nightly drawing plus a new one midday.)

Personally I only play AorN on rare occasions as it's too rich for my blood at $2.00 a pop to begin with. Not sure who will be playing it twice a day now but doubtful it will be me.

You seem to view it the same as many other players...too tricky to bother with.. Only to chase a constant jackpot (Georgia) $250 Grand..!!

It will most likely end up as did the version here in Georgia..... Retired..!!

Some think it was a good value for players, but fail to see that it was discontinued because it wasn't a good value for them ( Lottery Officials)..!!

This game is fairly new in our state (Wisconsin) top prize $100.000

Other states prize levels with this same game are way higher than ours, still I have no interest.

Think you'd win more picking the wrong numbers but this game is tricky.

GA All or Nothing paid out 56 cents on the dollar in prizes, which is more than what GA Jumbo Bucks, PB, and MM currently pay out on the dollar. In the words of our resident self-proclaimed math genius: Probability Math TM doesn't lie.
