The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 is the thing preventing lottery sales across state lines. I doubt any President can cancel a Congressional Act, but they sure could pressure Congress to repeal it. Because of the makeup of the Republican base, don't expect any change.

There was some hope Pres. Trump would have a better understanding of gambling and work to grant some freedom along those lines. sigh It's just easier to say tax free then to explain how the tax is actually a portion of the ticket sale price so it is paid up front by the many rather then the back end by the few winners. I agree things will get tighter and the more they try to tighten their grip the more that will slip between their fingers. Helps to keep in mind lottery is an essential service in... [ More ]

Respectfully, New Zealand is a tiny island country that is much easier to run than almost anything. You are a bit of a broken record with your constant suggestions about how an enormous country with complex system of state and federal laws should operate its lotteries.

The Feds pulled the plug on Online poker nine years ago and the only legal National Online wagering is on horse racing. Wondering why states with Online wagering haven't added all their drawn games to help with their slumping sales. As for tax free, some states say they charge no state tax, but the IRS considers lottery winnings over $600 as income. And most state tax forms ask for the earnings amount after lottery winnings are added. Maybe someone that lives in a state with state taxes that doe... [ More ]

Appreciate the sentiment, it would be nice if US State Lotteries allowed people who live in the same state as their lottery to participate from home, not to mention when out of state. Tax free would be nice too.

BobP

New Zealanders who are living abroad, can subscribe to the New Zealand State Lottery, if they have a New Zealand bank account.

US State Lotteries should allow people, who move out of state, or overseas, to continue to participate in their home state lottery.
