Unfortunately that method loses coherence for negative inputs. OP wants a function that returns 3 when the input is 2-9 . When you run the =RIGHT() formula it returns 7 rather than 3. =MOD(~~~,10) returns the correct result.

You can also specify the right digit only by surrounding the formula with Right(Formula,1)*1

You will get a single digit that is always positive and I believe is the equivalent of what we all call Lottery Math

For example you have the number 2 in cell a1 and 9 in cell b1. If you want the answer in the cell c1, you could type this formula in the cell c1:

=mod(($a$1+$b$1),10) for addition

or

=mod(($a$1-$b$1),10) for subtraction

There is more than one way do this.

It's modular arithmetic, use a mod 10 function. In Excel I think it's =MOD(2-9,10) and in other programming languages you have to look up the syntax for mod.

I want to add and subtract using lotto math. my results come out with an minus or 2 digit answer. How do you program it to be 0 thru 9 as an answer?
