That's a good/smart feature the Maryland Lottery has... not sure if it exists elsewhere, but if doesn't, it should. It protects both the player and the retailer. G5

Of course it was an honest mistake, but you did the right thing. What you did is called being ethical. It was a sticky situation, but you did the ethical thing.

That's the problem with the world today, a lack of ethics, not to mention a lack of respect for other people and their property. We'd all be living in a much nicer world than we currently do if everybody respected other people. Sadly some don't. G5

I mentioned this on another Website before I even knew what Lottery Post was, ;) and someone replied something like, I would have said, Yeah, I'm not paying for that Powerball ticket that was an honest mistake, and left. I replied something like, I came back with the $4 out of Principle....

YUP! Gotta look at the playslips BEFORE you use them. I once had a playslip that I had been using for a couple of days which was $5. But a drop of water had gotten on it and the machine picked it up as the '7 days' option and the clerk said $35!!! The machine asked the clerk to verify that much before submitting it, so I didn't have to pay.

One day a few years ago, I intended to play $2 in Play 4. The Lottery Retailer told me I owed $6! I was like, WHAT? He then informed me that I had played a $4 Powerball ticket. I had accidentally picked up an unwanted Powerball slip that someone else had bubbled in for $4 and left it in the Lottery slips station, and I accidentally picked that up too and accidentally handed it to the Lottery Retailer.
