What was he hired to do? It seems pretty obvious that he represented them with the lottery and acted as the public face of the trusts that claimed the prizes. He probably gave them sound legal and financial advice even if he also gave them some bad advice. Did he put them in touch with any legitimate investment advisors, assuming he was hired to do that? And whatever thing or things he was hired to do, was there a contract to do one bun... [ More ]

I wasn't saying that Jason's Clients should sue him for HIS Assets,I was saying they should sue him for money he STOLE from them and sue him for the Fee money back since he REALLY didn't do the job he was hired to do for them...

one big reason for using trusts is to protect your money from creditors. Because trusts and corporations are separate legal entitieshis assets may be sheltered, making it harder, or even impossible, to collect a dime even if he has (access to) millions.

His impacted clients wouldnt be suing him for HIS assets,.. they'd be suing him for the return of THEIRS..!!.. there's a clear distinction..!!

You mean the fee(s) they agreed to pay him? I know the concept is foreign to some people, but if you don't like the fees/price/contract terms the time to negotiate any changes is before agreeing to them.

I see where you're coming from but if things really go south what good will bonds do? Countries will fold. How did bonds do during the great depression? Invest in silver, gold or land. However, can't really buy much with gold or silver and without cash, the state will take your land. LOL

IMO,... a Bank is THE worst place to stash large lottery winnings...!!

Their current rate of intrest dividends are less than 1%...!! , yet they will turn around and charge YOU 22% intrest on an issued credit card... THAT'S HIGHWAY ROBBERY..!!

U.S. Treasury Bonds, Municipal Bonds, Mutual Bonds are the way to go.. along with Real Estate Investing, some Stock Market investing..

I don't think anybody necessarily needs a lawyer before they claim a very large win. But after you've got your new found fortune in the bank, you very likely will need not only a lawyer, but a team of finance pros to help you keep/protect it.

To my way of thinking, the biggest threat to keeping it lies not so much with fending off would be financial advisers, con artists, ex-wives, charities, gold digging girlfriends, and other outsiders, it's your own family that poses the most significant... [ More ]

We don't get much advice (if any) from people that actually won a large jackpot so for the most part we're getting advice from amateur wanna-be lawyers. Can understand the logic of using a lawyer to tie up any loose ends and protection from exes, but unless the winner needs directions to the lottery headquarters, from a financial advisers, don't know why hiring one is necessary before collecting the winnings.

Just have one question. Who needs a lawyer after they win lottery money? If there's a dispute between multiple winners I can see that but a single jackpot winner? Just put it in the bank and make a will. Also, hire a food taster when your ex-wife cooks a meal for you.

And that's probably why he and three others were indicted last August. But I can't find anywhere that Kurland and the others were tried and found guilty of looking shady.

When exactly was he tried found Guilty ?...I have done a few searches(not in great depth) and the only articles I found were from last August talking about the charges initiated and he was out on bail.

This kind of criminal case would normally take at least 6+ months just to get to jury selection
