First of all. Some are from Yemen as well. Are you telling me with the crap that's going on in Yemen that you have some problem with those people coming here? Some American you are. it looks like the matrix increased to 59 numbers in Sept 2001.

Then either my 5 years or more is almost 20 years or my vague recollection is about a change to MM or PB. I know that I had to switch to newer play slips at some point based on a change that hadn't really been on my radar.

It looks the bonus numbers increased also.

AFAIK the bonus number has always just been a 7th ball drawn from the same set as the 6 balls that determine all prizes except for 2nd place.

Sept 12, 2001 was first drawing with the current matrix of 6/59 (with a bonus ball included) for NY's Lotto. There have been 2,055 drawings since that date. G5

Going by rough memory, the original game was I think a 6/45. Not sure if it had a bonus. This is going back to around 1984-1986. I think the cost was a dollar then.

I dont remember when they added to 59 numbers. But at least going back to 2009 it had 59 numbers. I do recall when the added the numbers they did throw the NY players a bone, by reducing the cost to 50 cent. Which is very good, if you are into a large wheeling strategy.

The best we got was a 4/6.

Judging by the past lottery results here on LP it looks like the matrix increased to 59 numbers in Sept 2001. It looks the bonus numbers increased also. It seems the highest numbers before the change was 51 on both. They may have changed sooner but this was the first time they drew the higher numbers. Hope this helps.

Wednesday, September 19, 2001 3 8 29 30 31 49 Bonus: 52

I think it's probably been 5 years or more since the change to 6/59 but I'm old enough that sometimes 4 or 5 years ago turns out to several years longer if I can find out for certain when something happened. At one point Lotto was 6 of 44 but I'm not sure if that's how it started.

Looks like they changed it on 3/17/2021..

6/59 +2 Bonus Balls..looks to be the old Structure.it may be the new one if it still matches..

Does anyone know when the New York lottery raised the draw numbers up to 6 out of 59 and what the original game/games limits were
