Here is the FINAL report. Texas ended up second, but Florida holds the World Record for now with 575 having a 12,409 draw interval between straight draws from 08/05/1993,XXX,575 to 12/22/2017,575,673.

FL - Maximum Interval Between 575 Straights = 12409 draws

TX - Maximum Interval Between 219 Straights = 11453 draws

MI - Maximum Interval Between 572 Straights = 10838 draws

IL - Maximum Interval Between 825 Straights = 10665 draws

MO - Maximum Interval Between 160 Straights = 10512

Really cool that you actually did that. I don t think there s much else experimentally that you could do, I think logically the answer has to be yes, they behave the same. I was just asking to see if you thought perhaps there was a reason that they may not.

BTW, are you still gonna do the other states you didn t include in the list of longest 3-digit droughts

That's actually a pretty interesting question. I thought it would be really interesting to do a side-by-side comparison exactly as you stated the question. I didn't have any Pick 3 data, so I looked around and discovered that Florida makes available the results of their Pick 2 draws. So, let's conduct a little experiment. Here is a progress report. I added the straight number to each record. I will need to do a little fiddling to finish this up, but this is a pretty good start, I think. Enjoy!

Yeah, that 575 is something. But there was bound to be one that long when you consider the entire history. I have a question. You seem like someone who would be able to answer this accurately. In your estimation as far as odds and probability, when considering the back end pair (or front end for that matter) of a 3-digit number, would you say that it acts EXACTLY the same as if there were a 2-digit drawing

Yeah man, I just came here to ask a question about something that I did not anticipate. My program is pretty simple. It does not take into account numbers which are currently out, like the 066 in Virginia. I only thought about this when I ran the MaxInterval program on the Virginia data and suddenly thought about the 066 which I have been tracking. How do you want to handle that case? I'm very clear what you want. That's why I said I am running a state at a time and printing each state's largest interval, then sorting the list of all those to get the maximum interval ever. It'll be cool. I'm coding now...

One more thing... be advised that I have a LOT of history for some states. For Pennsylvania, for example, I have data going back to 1978. Normally, I don't use all that history when I am doing reports, but for this report, I am going to bust out the full archives from before many of the members on this board were even born. That way, we will know for $#@! sure that we really have found the COLDEST number that ever was... EVER

So, what I'm going to do is write a program that finds that one number that was out the longest in the history of a state. Then, I'll put that in a loop and do all the states. I'll print a sorted list so we'll know where each state ranks in the list (and what number was the coldest ever) and the top-most line should be the ultimate answer to the question of what was the coldest straight ever in all the draw history. There is no all time longest number etc etc.... because numbers hit in all states... for example the number you thought is the all time high may play often in a certain state..ps and there 50 states... you shouldn't even wanna no that... like for example back pair [20] is the only pair that has never played all yr in Florida...sooooo... when playing in fla you should choose 120..220..320..420... etc..etc.. it's a guaranteed hit soon.....TRUST ME I NO....I HIT 50GRAND LAST YR... TRUST

Sorry! That was just a bit of programmer humor. Programmers are encouraged to make variables self documenting to make code easier to maintain. I was just making a (very) little programmer joke about that. Much more correctly I should have said FindDrawsFarOutMaximum. I pulled that FindDaysFarOutMaximum variable name out of my (lame) code that was specifically designed to work only on two-a-day draw states.

Since you mean straight numbers, I can drop a hint that will save the rest of the programmers some time. The straight number, 066, is currently 8608 draws cold in Virginia. Programmers, you can set 8608 as the floor for your FindDateFarOutMaximum variable. Be sure to document that magic number so you don't get confused when you look at your code a couple years from now. lol! Anyway, that should save you from bothering with single-draw states that don't have that many draws in their entire histor... [ More ]

One thing that doesn t seem obtainable on this or any other site...wondering if anyone knows what is the longest a 3-digit number has gone without being drawn EVER in any state. I ve personally seen numbers go over 12-13 years, but would really like to know what the record is.
