I have noticed that winners tend to be in the more densely populated areas of my state. Of course, that is because more tickets are sold in those areas because there are more people. My state lottery site has a map that shows where the big winners have been and it agrees with your statement. Of course, not all big winners are in those areas as there are winners in smaller towns as well. I live in one of my state's 3 biggest cities and I haven't won big yet.

Most big winners as well as most small winners are in certain areas because those areas are the higher population areas where most tickets are sold..
