Yes, it is. Its like states watch other states and learn from their mistakes. Texas first 4 ball game was 4 of 100 in which they drew four balls numbered 1 and 99. I'd imagine it was the same as what you described. It was generally panned across the state with few players, and didn't last long.

A game that would be good for Texas is the Lucky for Life you guys have.

The Ohio Lottery's first game was the Buckeye 300 and they used a huge tumbler with 1000 three digit numbered balls from 000 to 999. They replaced the tumbler when they began offering pick-3.

Interesting how some lotteries evolved while others offer the same old tired games.

Texas Cash5 started out as a 5/39. Back then they used hard rubber balls.

July 29, 2002 they changed the matrix to 5/37 and began using air driven machines with the ping pong type balls.

September 24, 2018 they redesigned the matrix to 5/35.

Earlier in the year, sales were averaging about $1 million per week.

Since about July they've dropped to about $950,000.

Even that is an improvement over 2018 when weekly sales were around $800,000, but a far bit off the $2.8 million weekly... [ More ]

With the exception of the 2 number match, the secondary prize payoff are better than Ohio's 5/39 Rolling Cash 5 game. Matching 3 pays $10 and matching 4 pays $300. While most people are playing to win the jackpot, before tax $25,000 is not what most people call a large jackpot. For system and wheel players the extra buck, $5, and $50 adds up waiting to win the jackpot, but if the the jackpot is won, the extra $75,000 or more in winnings adds up even better.

I actually like this game.

Easy to mastermind. Was playing it for a while.

If you budget carefully and time your trends, then EASILY

a player could rack up FOUR Jackpots in a year. That really should be the goal.

That amounts to $100,000.

Not bad for years worth of lottery work.

The critic I have heard, is Its not a lot of money. I will play the AON because that is $250K. A real Jackpot amount.

Cash5 has always been crappy in Texas. They refuse to make it pari-mutuel because it loses money every year. And it loses money every year since its not pari-mutuel. They adopted the $75,000 limitation after 9 or 10 people shared a ridiculous $25,000 jackpot.

Texas Cash 5 is even worse. It's a 5/35 game with odds of 1 in 324,632 and a top prize of $25,000. On top of that they cap the top prize payout at $75,000, so if there are more than 3 top prize winners they have to split the $75,000. Second prize (4/5) is $350, third (3/5) prize is a whopping $15. 2/5 gets a free ticket .

So, yeah, that's a game I don't play.

They're all crappy. They're all making millions if not billions in profits, while leaving a stupid card that promises what 1 million , 5 million, or whoa 10 million dollars? And how many are there? Can you really win multiple prizes with one ticket?

Apparently Karen thought this game has a fixed payoff and suggested buying three tickets with the same six numbers and winning a $300,000 jackpot three times. Just a guess, but because for another buck players can win a prize by matching at least 4 of the 18 numbers. With this game you can win multiple prizes with one ticket.

Oh and because the jackpot rolls, one jackpot paid $2 million.

Can you really win multiple prizes with one ticket? NY lotto lets you play 2 lines, but you can only win one prize. I've always assumed that's how other games that claim to give you 2 chances for $whatever work.

As for crappy top prizes I can't imagine anything worse than P3. You've got a decent chance of winning but you'll only get chump change. If you play the usual two drawings per day you should... [ More ]

Let me get this straight, you're saying getting three chances for $1 to take home about $600,000 is a crappy game ?

Just a suggestion, if you're going to critique a lottery game at least tell us the minor details like odds of winning, secondary prizes, overall chances of winning something, etc. Oh and FYI, it's a rolling jackpot with only one top prize.

Jackpot Triple Play has a crappy top prize. $300,000 for an all 6 match, hence a perfect match. That's crappy, especially when a perfect match of say Powerball is like 40 MILLION as a BASE... A Jackpot Triple Play perfect match on all three lines(Say you bought three tickets and chose the same first numbers) you get $900,000 before taxes! Crappy
