Looking at the 4/35 combinations starting with 20 or more have a total 1820, making up 3.48% of the matrix.

The game data shows 367 hits in 10770 draws, or about 3.41% of the total.

So the odds of a 20 or above hitting as the lowest number is 3 or 4 in 100, or 1 in 34 draws.

17 has been the highest number in the last 112 draws.

In the last 1000 there have been 31 20+ first numbers (3.1%).

27 times when a 20+ hit in the first position it was followed by a single digit number.... [ More ]

Consider the numbers 1 and 10:

1 10 -- Delta is 10 - 1 = 9

2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 -- Gap is the 8 numbers between 1 and 10

The purpose for the minus 1 is to get you from the Delta number (9) to the Gap number (8) if desired.

Deltas or Gaps....both lead you down the same path, so it's a matter of user preference as to which one to use. I myself use Deltas because by eliminating the extra math, they register a split second faster going from my eyes to my brain.

In the case, with not using more filters, it still resembles to a regular wheel. There are not enough filters to apply a 3 if 5. You should get the filtered set down to a few hundred lines and eliminate a few numbers. With that you get closer to net payouts.

It appears that GH calls this Gaps although it appears from her Gaps Distribution Chart L the method she appears to use is what others here are calling Deltas... For instance: the Drawing is 08-11-14-22-27 and appear on the chart as 08-02-11-02-14-07-22-14-37 with an average of 6.3 max of 14 and total of 25... I wonder what would happen if you made a 20 day moving average on any of this what it might look like again with bands at that magic ~70%...

My fiasco is loss of focus. It also is 22:22. I had 6 deltas, thought order numbers 1 to 7, there i lost focus. Sleepy.

I won't redo my coding until I'm fine with everything again. Trouble also works on the focus, add the cold and the cultural shock outside with all those immigrunts that they didn't shoot at the borders, harbors and airports. ...

Gaps and Deltas often get confusing. I track Deltas, which is the difference between 2 numbers.

The Delta group structure for 07 08 17 28 36 is:

1 9 11 8 with a total of 29

The Gap group structure for 07 08 17 28 36 is:

0 8 10 7 with a total of 28

Same basic results, just that gap numbers = delta numbers - 1.

Here are the results for my 5/39 game.

Gary this is exactly what my original intention was, to have something comparable to Chart F Sum totals that could be applied to Gap Totals instead.

Apologies if I didn't make that clear in my initial post.

Ideally I would want to identify a most probable range of gap totals with a midpoint total being the most probable gap total which has the most ways of happening compared to the other gap totals.

No matter how you actually calculate the gap, I think that the OP is looking for a way to decide what might fall inside of one degree of the standard deviation (the ~70%) or outside and when/what to play on either side of that line/curve... Seems a lot like Bollinger bands used in technical trading financial instruments... And no, I am not implying that lottery balls act the same as price and volume action of financial instruments... Maybe just thinking of the regression toward the mean...

I'm waiting on the new pig kidney transplants to get worked out. Yep. They successfully transplanted pig kidneys into humans in NY.

But in my case, I'm not in bad shape compared to some people. I feel sorrow for the others, especially the kids. You see these kids who have (or could have) a long life and it makes no sense to me to take a kidney that might provide them that opportunity.

You're alive! - Gaps serve for filtering. Gaps are deltas. For some the gap between 1 and 2 equals to 0.

It all is how you look at it. 6/45: 6 are drawn, 39 are not drawn. So, some count the number of balls between the numbers. They eventually use that for calculations. How many gaps are there in a pick 6? 5 or 6 or 7? Think about it.

If you park your car against another car, bumper to bumper, how big is the gap between those two cars? Between the two steering wheels

It doesn't change any of the totals just moves them up three rows.....first two rows show the totals when we use (N4-N1). The second two reflect her method (N4-N1) - 3 spaces. (The second set would include a 0 which would equal 25.)

Not nearly as bad a the mistake I made with GH gaps. Still trying ti find the reason for the subtraction of the spaces. As long as its consistent I can't see the difference it would make.

Reading the manual she's using consecutive numbers as being a 0 gap.

So by her calculations 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 would be (6 - 1) - 5 = 0.

In that case, nothing I've said would apply as apparently she's basing her Gap on any possible combination as 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, or 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, or 5, 4, 6, 3, 1, 2.

I don't understand why since you'll never see anything but 1,2,3,4,5,6 on a ticket. But that's her method.

I agree but I don't.

If you take the overall anything you can think of and compare it to the totals of the game the percentages will be pretty close.

So what happens the most will happen the most. It may not happen in short term series of draws, but it will catch up to the percentages over time.

If you play 40 days and give up, you probably weren't committed. Or maybe you need to be committed for wasting all that money!

To show how this score is calculated, for the combination 07-16-24-39-49-53 the gaps would be:

16-07 = 9

24-07 = 17

39-07 = 32

49-07 = 42

53-07 = 46

24-16 = 8

39-16 = 23

49-16 = 33

53-16 = 37

...

Gary perhaps I have gotten it wrong, but on page 84 in the Advantage Gold manual it states the following:

The easiest and most useful gap calculation is the gap total and it is simply the largest number less the smallest number less the number of gaps between them. In the PA640 game with the bonus excluded there are 6 numbers with 5 gaps. The largest gap would be 40 - 1 - 5 gaps = 34.

Not sure how you're doing gaps.

Taking the difference between each number in set 1 2 3 4 gives a gap total of 3; gap signature is 1,1,1. (Same if you subtract the first number from the fourth)

Highest number set with a 1 for the first number is 1 26 27 28.

28 - 1 would give a gap total of 27.

So the gap totals possible are between 3 and 27. That means you'd have 2925 possible three number gap signatures from 1,1,1; to 25,1,1.

Thanks for replying Gary, I know that in a 4/28 game the gap totals can range from a minimum of 0 to a maximum of 24.

But I have no idea of how to work out the expected/probability of hits for each gap total.

I'm also clueless as to how you worked out the 70% most probable gap total range of 16-30 for a 4/35 format.

I was hoping someone who was good with Maths could assist me with how I could work this out for any lotto regardless of format.

Folks I am wondering if it is possible to devise a method based on the Gap distribution (Chart L) in the Advantage Gold software.

I am particularly interested in the Gap Totals covered in charts L.3 and L.4

Would it be possible to formulate a strategy similar to Gail's 70% rule for the Sum range (Chart F) for example?

With Gail 70% Sum rule she gives us the mid-point or most probable sum which is helpful as it shows us the Sum which has the most ways of happening.
