Is it worth driving to either state to play a large number of lottery tickets with those odds for the sake of remaining anonymous?

Given the odds of wining there's very little sense in buying tickets at all, but unless you're going to by so many tickets that the cost of driving becomes negligible it makes no sense at all to drive far out of your way.

What about the lawyer(s) you already consulted with to sue the lottery? None of them believed your evidence? Pretty funny that someone who believes the drawings are rigged against him personally would continue to play.

I do not deal with individual clients. lol. In all seriousness, you want to go to an attorney that has experience claiming for other winners or a larger law firm with a solid tax and financial department... not someone's cousin who handles immigration matters in a strip mall. You can interview attorneys. Remember that attorney represents you and you have a right to end the relationship at any time.

That is not really accurate. The winners got lazy and allowed the attorney to make specific investment decisions for them. Legal advice is different from financial investing advice and they should have kept those functions separate. Attorneys should not direct you to specific individual investments. You pick an independent team of experts. The winners should have consulted with an outside financial /investment firm that had no connection to the law firm. If someone used a LLC for a million dollar prize and stayed anonymous, then a larger jackpot should allow the same option.

You are not relinquishing control of the money with a llc or trust. The attorney has a temporary power of attorney to claim the money on your behalf. You are in control of the money.

Trusts or llcs are not always an option depending on the state law and /or lottery precedent.

Yep, if we win in a state with no state tax or less than the tax rate in your home state, we'll get a bill for the difference. And add to the number of people knowing the winner's name.

According to stories I have read over the years, a lot of people who actually win the jackpot play the lottery consistently. Even if I drove to a neighboring state and bought 250 Powerball tickets once a month and spent $500, I could end up losing hundreds of dollars. But at least, if I spent $20 every drawing, I would have my hand in every drawing.

I think someone claimed the prize as a LLC in my state, but that person only won a million dollars not the jackpot. I suppose if that happened with a million prize, it could be done with a jackpot with an attorney who is experienced with trusts. Honestly, I would rather just play in a state whereas I could be anonymous without relinquishing control of my prize to an attorney.

Picking up an advanced draw for the maximum allowed, is a great option. Having a moving plan to a rental a few days before you collect could be an alternative, even something as simple as a campground lot.

Maybe get your large pool of tickets and get the multi-draw option so you don't have to drive back as often to the other state?

If you do win have to pay taxes in both states State an Federal. I lived in Missouri an Kansas worked in Oklahoma at a Casino taxed twice.

It might be worth it if you're buying enough that your chances of winning the jackpot are non-negligible, really it depends on the person.

If you bought 1,000 Powerball tix (all different combos), your odds of hitting the jackpot would be 1 in 292,201. This is roughly the same as the odds of winning a Cash Five type game that uses fewer than 35 balls. Meh, as Larry David might say.

I live in a state where you can play Powerball and Mega Millions. However, the state I live in does not allow lottery winners to remain anonymous. There are two neighboring states that allow anonymity for lottery winners. But one state is an hour and half away. The other state is over 2 hours away from me. Here is my question.
