Powerball Card Update Stinks!

I bought a Mega Millions ticket on Tuesday, marking QP on the white balls and self picking the red ball and it worked. The last few times I played Powerball I bought a full quick pick, tomorrow I will mark QP on the white balls and self pick the red one to see if it still doesn't work. If it doesn't, maybe the clerk can override the slip, I'll post the results either way.

I originally figured the old cards should still work because the only change was adding the 3rd drawing. Even though the game itself is the same for each drawing the multi-draw options changed, so we got new slips and machines that won't accept the old ones.

FWIW, I don't know about all states, but in PA the clerk can override the slip and print tickets for any number of drawings. Based on that I've go to figure the only requirement to make the old slips unworkable is policy rather than techn... [ More ]

I made that mistake already, using the old PB cards before the update for the new Monday drawing, I was embarrassed! I can't say I'm 100% sure I used the updated cards, but I'll try to play again with an updated card and see if it goes through.

Are you using the right cards? One thing I've found is that sometimes, when the lottery changes a game, some retailers are lax about getting the updated cards out to the lottery display.

The NY lottery didn't answer my first e-mail, I had to write a second time! The employee was implying I wasn't playing correctly before the update, so I guess that's the answer I would get from the higher-ups! I don't play PB as much as I used to, I play NY Lotto more now.

That's really disappointing. In matters like this, a lottery's response should always be to try and understand what has changed, why it is important to players, and consideration of changing back.

From a technology perspective, there is no reason to remove that option. The only reason I can think of would be if the option causes some players confusion when filling out a betslip but that seems pretty far-fetched to me.

I did notify them, at first the employee denied anything changed so I e-mailed him back and said I've playing my way for years so something had to change!

His reply was the Powerball cards were updated. He implied that I wasn't playing the correct way. Now for this big PB drawing tonight I'll have to pick the red and white balls. It will take more time because I play all the red balls and get 26 lines when the jackpot is big.

Powerball Card Update Stinks!

Since the NY Lottery updated the Powerball cards to include the new Monday drawing I can't play PB like I used to, the machines won't accept my cards. Before the update I would mark the red ball number of my choice and mark quick pick (QP) for the five white balls, now the machines won't accept that type of bet.
