You could give one lottery ticket to every single person in the US over 18 years old which would be 259.4 million people. And then you would still have 43.1 million Mega Million and 32.9 million Power Ball tickets left over.

People look at their chances and say, If I'm going play at those odds, I'll wait till the jackpot gets real high. But there are very few that would say I don't want it , if they were to hit the starting jackpot for 20 million.

Maybe at $2 a ticket, 302,575,350 possible outcomes, and a before tax cash value of $247,800,000 is why more money isn't spent on this game. It could be because players had epiphanies they couldn't win after all the drawings without a winner. With only about 6 jackpot winners in the last doesn't help confidence of winning either.

Because nobody cares. Who cares about 400 million dollars? I'd settle for $250,000. That would be big enough for me easy. Takes money to make money. A dollar or two doesn't really cut it. Lies are all they're telling you. Do you need $400 million dollars to make it in this world? If you do, then I feel sorry for anyone that says yes. That's the game they're playing with you. Their canned response to everything is jackpot fatigue . Every time they makes changes to the games I usually play less less.

Just a few years ago a $400 million jackpot would increase over a $100 million after a draw wasn't won. The Mega Millions was at $410 last draw and only went up $30 million after nobody won. Are sales really down that much now? If sales are really down that much compared to years past, why aren't the lottery companies making changes to get more people playing again
