Backtesting is the process of recreating the work of your strategies on historical data, essentially all of your past strategic work. Forward testing allows for the recreation of your strategy work in real-time, all while your charts refresh their data.

Backtesting essentially all of your past strategic work(retro fit , subject to bias).

The ideal of backtesting in mutual exclusive event is moot, why? your Prior Probability is unknown(A good read on Bayesian stats will be good)

Forward

Y ou missed one thing.... The BEST system is the one YOU understand, and if the system that you do understand is not producing the results you either want or willing to settle for, then you might need to try to understand a different system weather YOU think it will initially work or not the individual might need to play with it to gain perspective of if its a fit for what they think a successful method or system looks like to them.... and wheather it actually makes money or not

Thanks db101. I'll put it together and see how it turns out.

I was going to wait, but I guess now is as good a time as any to show results from a system of mine called Nearby 445. It doesn't offer anything huge over other systems, but it does show one of the patterns or anomalies I look for. The first image is OH , Jan - Jun and then July only, The second image is IN , Jan - Jun and then July only. Notice 3 of the top 5 HOD's in July, 8, 26, 29 are identical in those two states. What does it... [ More ]

You are missing the point here. It doesn't matter what system I analyze. It's about the performance of several systems throughout several states. I am just looking for similarities amongst a random field of systems. If I use only my systems, then that data will have a slight bias towards my coding of the code.

Patience...I'll throw in one or two of mine along the way.

I'm not a fan of LakeTrout but the reason you got your previous thread LOCKED was because you persisted in back-testing OP's(other people's) systems. Now you're at it again this time evaluating a mysterious (no name) online system. Why not back-test your own system and publish it for all to see or would that reveal too much information like the lottery realm you appear to be in .

Here is the data for OH. Next post will show results for the state of IN.

The top image shows results from Jan 01, 2022 thru Jun 30, 2022. For no particular reason, I chose six months as a starting point.

The first column, titled HOD, represents the Hit On Draw number. In other words, did the system numbers I played, hit on the very next day (HOD 1), or did they wait until 30 draws (HOD 30) later to hit. I am not concerned with box hits at this time, but I will keep them in play.

The... [ More ]

With so many systems to choose from, how do you choose the one(s) that will work best for you and your lottery play style. You may ask yourself:

What system will work best in my state?

Do I play Midday to Midday, Eve to Eve, or combined Midday and Eve?

How many numbers will I have to play with a system?

Do I play for a straight or box win?

For how many draws should I play those numbers?

My plan here is show the data and look for patterns and anomalies.
