its still surprising (to me) that only 13% play the lottery often.

That'z bcauze most folkz know that it'z RIGGED most of the timez..

Plus, I've shown proof of such suspicionz wit my Posted custom lottery ticket resultz, where their Mainframe slicez up my pickz just to git outta payin..

Totally agree with you. Often these polls ask questions that are ambiguous due to each person's point of view.

It's like when I'm asked by the nutritionist at dialysis, Are you eating better?

And I have to weight whether I'm eating better than I was, or whether I'm being more aware of my diet.

Polls are not always clear in the meaning and most times the pollsters can't offer a clear interpretation of what is being asked.

Not a criticism of you, garyo, but this poll could have been more illuminating if they'd asked how much people spend per year or month on lotto. Some people who only play when jackpots are huge might be putting down $1000+ on a single drawing. And people who responded often might be just a few dollars every month.

Considering the sometimes option is about the same as Only when the jackpot's huge , the polls shows 74% do play lottery games. And the 35% jackpot hunters only contribute greatly to state lottery's bottom lines.

If only 39% play sometimes or more than there are lots of potential customers for the lotteries. With 26% never playing, I'm trying to figure out who they polled.

MSN has a daily poll on the homepage.

Today's poll asks questions relating to gambling.

The last question is lottery related.

The question......

How often do you play the lottery?

And the responses (through 91,800 votes)....

Often 13%

Sometimes 26%

Only when the jackpot's huge 35%

Never 26%

Taking into account the economy has some affect on those numbers, its still surprising (to me) that only 13% play the lottery often.
