That is an interesting idea too. Picking a different set of numbers each week and playing it against a quick pick, like doing a quick pick out of my head or some other method and using a terminal quick pick, then adding a static pick for every drawing to see what the differences are. It would be interesting to see how all three methods compare.

Thanks! You understand exactly what I was doing. Some people play the same set of numbers drawing after drawing while others just use quick picks from the terminal. I was trying to see what would match more numbers over multiple drawings, a static set of numbers or a different quick pick every drawing. The quick picks did do a little better and some of them actually won money, but the average number of matches wasn't much different between the two.

As you say, to each his own.

I'll admit you have a good point inasmuch as he did test a static against dynamic.

Perhaps there would be more more value in the results had he used the static set as a control, picked a new self pick each draw and got a quick pick?

It's a perfectly good experiment to compare two methods. It doesn't matter if one of the things being compared is static and the other is dynamic, because that is exactly what he wants to compare.

You can of course design other experiments comparing two dynamics. Or two even statics, like, how does 1-2-3-4-5 compare to your five lucky numbers? To each experimenter their own.

Some people play the same numbers every draw while others use quick picks. Playing a set of numbers meaningful in some way to the player and quick picks are common methods to pick numbers and I was comparing those methods.

Quick picks are the most common method to pick numbers and what I'm trying to see is if another method might be better. We shall see.

That would be nothing more a para-experiment; not a true side by side evaluation.

First, you were playing the same numbers for the self pick, but getting a new quick pick each draw. While your self pick numbers were static your quick pick numbers changed. So there wasn't an equal evaluation of two set of numbers.

Fascinating..!!

I liken yo patient xsperiment to listening to a Singer sing only a couple of phrazez or musical notez of a Song over and over..then hearing someone sing the same Song, but which includez ALL the notez of the Melody, and maybe even a few ad-lib phrazez thrown in, making use of an ENTIRE Musical Scale.

The difference in rezultz in yo xample would be akin to the Applauze given the Singer that used MORE notez of the Musical Scale ( which are following Lawz of Music) ..Summary... [ More ]

This is an old post regarding the self pick vs quick pick experiments I mentioned in my previous post.

A few years ago, I did an experiment using Louisiana Lotto in which I played two lines, one a set of of numbers I picked and played over and over, and one quickpick. Over the course of the drawings, I found the random quickpick actually had a slight edge over playing the same set of numbers every drawing(average number of balls matched 0.714 for the self pick and 0.971 for the quickpic... I usually play quickpicks because I found I actually did better with them. I did a couple of experiments in which I picked a set of numbers and played it for several drawings along with a different quickpick. The quickpicks did better in Louisiana Lotto(6/42), Powerball, and MegaMillions in that they matched more numbers produced more winners than playing the same set of numbers. I like to pick my own numbers most of the time, but I also play QP's. If you're playing numbers games like Pick 3, you might do better with your own picks. But, with jackpot games with odds in the millions, it really doesn't matter.

One example I pointed out in another thread is Texas 2 Step. A small jackpot game with odds 1 in 1,832,600. So far this year, there have been 22 jackpot winners and 19 of them have been QP's.

i like quick picks. When I choose the numbers it is because I think they are the ones that will be chosen. Most of the time I am wrong and therefor disappointed for picking the wrong ones. When I purchase quick picks I never expect to win, therefor when I do it's a nice surprise.

IMO, most systems are primitive random number generators and any pick they give have the same odds of winnings as a terminal generated QP or someone's birthday number. And I don't see any advantage of either with jackpot games with 9 figure possible outcomes.

The only advantage of purchasing QPs over self picks is most players discard QPs and usually can't recall those numbers a couple days later. I still cringe when a pet number I played years ago is drawn.

In General, QPs aren't worth using fa Toilet paper in ANY State..!! (IMHO) I usually file them in Cabinet #13..from the Free Ticket winz I git..

Ya betta awuphf pickin yo own numbaz..

Download Lotto Pro ..it'll git you closer to the real numberz due to show up in yo Game of choice..

Opting for QPs sayz that you want the money, but don't wanna werk for it..That'z why they're called a Lazy Bet ..

Hello All,

Please share how you use Quick Picks that you purchase from your local lottery store. I buy Quick Picks daily. If I have the funds, I will play Quick Picks in other states on line. Awhile back, I was keeping record of all my Quick Picks to see when they are drawn here in Indiana and in other states.

Additionally, please share what we should know about Quick Picks in general.
