I agree which is why I called her a fool. She shouldn't have put his name on it if she weren't planning to split it with him 50/50. This is her own fault.

I thought signing your name was the verification.

If she put his name on the ticket, but he didn't sign it, then that would be considered a forgery .

What if for luck I write Jesus Christ on my 3 Billion dollar winning Mega Millions ticket?

Does that mean now I have to give half my winnings to the Catholic church

You need to read the links Todd supplied and reread the facts.

One, there was a settlement so there was no giving of money back to her outside of the agreed upon settlement. It appears that the facts were not in favor of the nephew, thus the settlement resulted in some of the money in her favor.

Two, there was a substantial question of fact since she claimed the nephew put his phone number, etc. on the ticket without her permission. She is not an attorney and clearly misunders... [ More ]
