I also am of the belief that it is rigged.. I have posted before.. and used various statistical approaches.. and when VA lottery drops there trips within the pick four .. it is based on how much money VA lottery has decided it was going to give away.. Joe, even though I'm now living in Florida (I'm a transplant from New York) I can tell you it's a thing that players in New York often play the previous draws numbers all the time, and they have been doing it for years. Personally I always thought doing so was as crazy as those that played 1 2 3 4 5. What happened this past Thursday was exactly what will happen if 1 2 3 4 5 is ever drawn. I'm not sure if they still do this or not, but I forgot to mention that The NY Lottery at one time invited members of the general public to attend live lottery drawings.

The drawings were/are held in the TV Studio at The Lottery's HQ in Schenectady New York. Because I lived more than 90 miles from Schenectady, and the fact that TAKE5 drawings were held at eleven fifteen PM, I never attended a drawing. My guess would be most of the people who did win did so on advanced draws.

Nobody won the afternoon drawing, so your guess would be wrong. Based on the odds and the number of 4th place winners perhaps 450k tickets are sold for an evening drawing. With that many tickets with randomly chosen numbers the chance of a single winner is 36% and the chance of 2 winners is 14.5%. This is nothing new in Take5. Since January 1991 when Take5 began, there have been 78 sets of five numbers drawn twice. There has also been one set of five that has been drawn three times. What's new/different is that it happened in back to back drawings. That's never happened before.

After I made the comment I looked to see if NY was a computerized game. LP report cards says no but I have a hard time believing any state or any game truly is. Occurrences such as this just confirms my theory.

Did find this where the Wisconsin SuperCash drew the same 6 winning numbers within ten days.

Actually if I recall right it has happened before in another state. They however did the right thing by admitting to the error of the machine . The numbers themselves are more interesting then the error itself.

If NY has pretests, those sets didn't hit back to back. They only appear so since those are the only sets published.

Still interesting though.

I'd have thought the odds were better of having a mental illness named for a segment of lottery players before that would happen. If it was rigged, it didn't work out too well for the 52 winners who had to split a measly $37k and only won about $700 apiece.

And now we all learned just how common it is for people to play the last drawing's result. Those 52 will be rethinking the way they pick numbers from now on.
