When I see posts from players saying they want to be the next Jeff Bezos and run a worldwide mega corporation, that is a huge red flag. These rare players are looking to be superstars vs quietly investing or doing good in communities. No amount of money is going to fix their self esteem issues.

Very true.... no financial adviser has a perfect track record, they all have managed to lose the clients money at some point during their careers. Investing whether done by a financial adviser, or if you do it yourself, involves risk of capital. The best you can hope for is that you have an adviser who is honest, knows what they're doing, and has a good track record. I agree but no investment advisor can guarantee your principal regardless of fees paid for the recommendation. So winners need to know what type of portfolio they want...very conservative to very aggressive. So many winners want to double or quadruple their winnings with risky investments.

One reason why people attempt to manage a JP win by themselves is because they see the fees finance pros charge and they don't want to pay that much money for the services of the pro.

Have you ever seen a lawyer that doesn't charge high fees for their services? Most people don't like the fees lawyers charge, but they pay them.

I've never had what I consider to be a very large sum of money in any of my bank accounts.

I've learned a lot about managing money, but I've never actually done it, so that tells me I shouldn't delude myself in to thinking I can actually do it. I have a very close relative that works in the financial industry. He actually has a Wall Street job and is employed by KKR which is one of the Big Four Private Equity firms located in New York.
