i think it depends on what state you live in.i get 5 quick pick tickets on these big jackpots and usually get 4 to 8 bucks winner.not from a high populated state .

Thanks for doing the legwork, Todd. Totally agree that it is beyond petty to withhold such a simple piece of info.

I'm trying to think under what circumstances knowing that a ticket was a self-pick could potential identify a winner. Maybe if someone played their SSN digits in order somehow? Someone playing their birthdate and address? Even then, it's hard to get something definitive.

Oh my gosh, the Illinois Lottery made it very difficult to get this information.

The Mega Millions jackpot in question was won on July 29, 2022, and was claimed in September. (The news story is here: https://www.lotterypost.com/news/342559 )

If you look at the comments for that story, you'll see that members were wondering if it was a quick pick ticket, or if the winners chose their own numbers. So I said I would reach out to the lottery to find out (which also can be found in the commen... [ More ]
