Instead of asking your state have you tried asking the ticket printing companies instead?

I know There are two or 3 companies that print the tickets for all the states.

Michigan uses Pollard Bank Notes. I don't know who prints the California tickets.

If you know who prints the tickets for your state try asking them although I suspect I know the reply they will give you.

Hi Think,

I understand what you are saying, and thanks for that. I just think it's very odd that those numbers do not correlate with tickets (supposedly) sold, and there is no formal site showing how they are actually numbered. There should be some way to corroborate the site statistics with actual numbers, and book 1million doesn't match what I would expect with 18million. I could understand if somehow each pool was random or had gaps for security, or something else, but that would mean the... [ More ]

Sorry to split this up but I didn't want to exceed the time limit again.

As far as how the winners are distributed per pack I can tell you that over the last 20 or so years that I have been reading this site that the packs work something like this

If there are 3 big winners then the first big winner is in the first 3rd of the tickets and the second one is in the second 3rd with, of course, the third winner being in the third 3rd to avoid getting 2 big winners in the same book.... [ More ]

No, I was referring to multiplying the book number by 30. If the first number is the book number you would multiply by 30 because in your example there were 30 tickets per book.

In Michigan and a lot of other states the numbers on the bottom are xxx-xxxxxxxx-xxx with the first set being the game number and the second set being the book number and the third set is the ticket number in that particular book. So in a lot of states You multiply the overall odds by the overall number of prize... [ More ]

Thank you for your reply.

it would seem really odd to multiply the ticket number, eg.

1,000,000*30 to get 3,000,000 tickets in. That would mean the next one would multiple higher and higher exponentially fast.

loke yiu said 35million is way above 18million already. If they are truly printed in random order with gaps that would be odd as you can't gain any edge by random numbers in ordered sets.

my thinking is they print these sub books like

book oooooo ooo

001

....... [ More ]

I did did not look to see how California does it

Edit: I just looked at the examples on the California website and I am guessing that California does book number and ticket number

while leaving off the game number. So yyyyyyyy-zzzz my guess is y is the book number and z is the ticket number.

Otherwise if you are familiar with the way California does the numbering and you know you are correct then your retailer may have a pack of earlier tickets that have not been selling o... [ More ]

Looking around the web, I see that numbers are generated sequentially.

So, if there are 18million tickets, I would expect my ticket to be somewhere from 1 to 18million.

However, since there are books and then sub numbers, I have to calculate slightly differently.

Concretely, I have a CA 200X scratcher that has about 18million total tickets.

I look at a ticket and see a number 1182345-025. If I assume each book at 30 tickets, it means my

book should start at 1182345 to 118237... [ More ]
