I finally managed to find the link to the lottery regs and financial reports, it's under about us. The latest version of the regs state

The Cash Option for the Jackpot Prize is set prior to the Draw and is based on the estimated cost to fully fund the advertised annuity prize.

Lottery regs used to be posted on the CA Lottery website. But now they don't operate as transparently as they used to, you can't even find the annual financial reports. Anyway, see for yourself that the cash value actually went DOWN between consecutive drawings.

I also would like to see Cali set up online ordering but they haven't yet regardless of other states doing it. I'm sure there are plenty of people using other means rather than go out and buy their own tickets. I'm sure there are some reputable carriers out there . There are risks involved if you do and I prefer to not go down that path if I did happen to win. If you can't see the difference between paying a carrier and asking a relative to pick a ticket up for you then I don't know what to tell... [ More ]

That does not make sense either. They allow all kinds of federally illegal drugs to be sold openly there but for some reason it's a big crime to sell lottery tickets across state lines? Massachusetts found a way to sell across state lines so it can be done. Why wouldn't they want to take in more

Regardless of all that and even tho the sales are up by quite a bit the jackpot keeps growing 1M at a time and I have actually just out of curiosity called the lottery and asked and they couldn't give me an answer as to why this is. This game is exhausting

I bought two plays. The first one I picked the numbers and the second one a quick pick. So.... the quick pick gave me 3 of the same numbers and added 10 to the forth number. So I knew I had lost before it started. Yesterday I got 3 on FF so that covered me for a few draws.

So you will not have the actual ticket ...you will have a copy. No way for the lottery to determine you are legally the winner. If they discover how it was purchased they may void the win since it was purchased illegally. And if they take off with your money..then what ? It's still illegal , I would think, but in doubt you can google or call the lottery and ask.

CA SuperLotto Plus is idiotic. By regulation, the advertised annuity value has to increase by exactly 1 million dollars with every rollover, and the cash value is calculated from that number, regardless of sales . It works the opposite of every other annuitized jackpot lottery where sales dictate the cash value and the cash value dictates the annuity. Power Ball and Mega Millions make the biggest jumps. Jumps or increases are a function of the Play volume (I think).

California Super Lotto used to make bigger jumps. Curious to know if the Game Play is down along with the relatively small fixed 1 million jump recently enacted.

It's absurd that they never roll the winnings down. They would pay out the same either way (assuming they ever even do pay out the top win).

Anything below the astronomical odds win is a pittance. They are always trying to get ways for more people to play, that would certainly be it.
