I've heard of people playing patterns on the playslips too. I remember when the Louisiana Lottery first started offering draw games, someone told me they filled out a playslip with a smiley face. I'm sure people use other patterns like a five on a die or an X or something like that. Probably not a good idea either if a player doesn't want to share.

Here in Florida QP's won't spare you from sharing a jackpot. Florida Fantasy5 is routinely split among multiple winners holding QP tickets. G5

I believe this was definitely a pattern win . I tried to find an example of the CA Fantasy 5 play card online, but could only find a Gimme Five play card picture which has 4 numbers to a row, so that the numbers 7, 11, 15, 19, 23 are lined up in a column. Many players play this way. There were also more 4/5 winners for that drawing because players playing that way probably started with the 3 and played all the 5 number combos down in that column resulting in a couple of 4/5s for 3, 7, 11, 15, 19... I play the same 5 numbers have for a few years. I've hit 4/5 five times. Hit 3/5 Friday night again on Saturday, also got 1 or 2 free replays this week. 4/5 pretty much pays for an entire year of plays.

More proof of why players shouldn't play numbers with an obvious pattern. If it's an obvious pattern, others will probably play it as well and if they hit, winners have to share. The same could be said about playing calendar dates or sets of numbers that are seen elsewhere. I've read stories about numbers being matched in multiple places because players used the numbers from fortune cookies which are shipped to restaurants all over the country. I can see that only 2 bought more than one ticket. They have 30 different locations listed but the results say 32 .
