The cash value of lottery jackpots hasn't changed. It's still the same percentage of sales that it's been for several years, and only changes when the lotteries change the prize structure.

The annuity is an investment, and how well it does depends on interest rates. Interest rates have gone up, so a given amount of cash buys an annuity with a higher total payout. Yes it does .i wish the goverment would just try hard to balance the budget and get us out of so much debt its aweful how they treat us in the United States Of America .

Hello everyone, not sure if this topic was discussed before, but i'm sure most of us noticed that the cash value for major lotteries such as Powerball and Megamillions had decreased over few years. For instance, the average ratio for cash to annuity in 2020 for Megamillions lottery used to be 73%, 70% in 2021, 60% in 2022 and this year it is less that 50%, the current ratio for the draw on 17th October is 45%.
