That's why they say only play what you can afford to loose.

Also look at it as a form of entertainment.

I like to use the sport analogy.

Say for instance you support a certain team and they have never won the Super Bowl, or an NBA championship etc.

If you are a die hard fan, you won't ditch them for that, you continue to cheer the team on and who knows maybe one day they will win a major championship.

Take heart, we are in this together.

There have been times when the jackpot resets to 20M and I buy a ticket every single draw and win nothing, aka zero, nada, the whole run until someone wins it at almost a billion. That's like 30 plus draws without winning a dime, lol.

Well, I make it sound bad but that's 30 draws by $3 so that's $90 total

But hey, it's still money right, I should have won even $3 at least lol.

When you lose for 20 years after trying just about every method out there, that's when.

I gave up pick 3 5 years ago for that very reason. The game is rigged with all the pre draws.

You are forgetting the Thrill of knowing your Ticket could be the one. That You were in the right place. If it turns out that the timing was off I would not be that disapointed because I played my own Numbers. If I played a quick pick I might feel different, but I have been working on my System for a long time and seldom use the quik picker.

Hahahaha imagine if the store where you buy your ticket is the one with the winning ticket.

That would be very tormenting, you could think it's your ticket, but then it may not be.

When a winning ticket is bought in the store where you buy your tickets and you are not the winner, you'd blame yourself for going in the store at the wrong time

I believe that when a person is able to adjust the way they play, then they are in control of their play and the lottery is not holding them captive.

Sometimes my mind tells me, hey buy a ticket, but I respond, nope and just head home. That way I know that I am in charge and not the lottery.

When I actually play either Ca Fantasy 5 or Super Lotto Plus, My first check is the Lottery Website. They tell you where the winning ticket(s) were purchaced. That way I know if I still have a chance Ace Ventura Oet detective.

Definitely when playing the lottery stops being fun one should indeed take a break.

I have a main job and a side hustle - I only buy my tickets with the cash from the side gig.

So I am still in but only at one ticket a draw. There are times when the jackpots were this high that I would do five tickets or more a drawing - I never won anything, so I figured out that one ticket is just as good as ten

Got my PB and MM tickets ready with the extra buck on each.

My advice is, don't let the idea of winning bother you.

If it's meant to be it will be, if it's not, it won't happen.

The only thing you can do is buy a ticket and let fate take it's course.

Let the winning come to you on its own accord, from experience, chasing the win doesn't bring the winnings home.

Just let it happen at its own appointed time.

I always buy my ticket and the go about my business of the day and check the next day after the draw.

So I stopped buying them. But I can honestly say. My biggest win was from a quick pic on pb. It was a hundred bucks. If I spent the extra buck it would have been three hundred. My style of play is walk into a store, get a QP and am gone.

So on the days that I don't play am not worried about whatever numbers that get drawn because I don't have a set of numbers that I will look back at.

I understand what you're saying about the fear of not playing on the day your number(s) finally drop. I've had that happen 3 or 4 times just within the past month on Pick3 and Pick4 games. Frustrating without a doubt. But I've also wrestled with that inner voice insisting that This Number is about to drop. I think we've probably all heard that voice saying Look, look, the pattern is there! Only to play the numbers and come up empty yet again.

I been thinking of hanging it up myself. Been playing the same numbers for 20 years and nothing. Powerball draw my first and third number come out the rest where off between 1-3 numbers 'last nights draw'. And mega millions about '2 draws ago my first and second numbers come out'. I get the astromical odds but jeez. Throw a dog a bone every now and then. So now I'm on the fence of just stopping all together . Or if I keep playing. The truth is We won't all win the jackpot we may get some winnings here and there but maybe not the jackpot.

I don't think that I can get myself to playing on paper.

For the same reason that I don't play special numbers and/or birthday combinations.

I always imagine maybe the day I don't play is the day those those special numbers may get drawn.

How devastating that would be.

Can you imagine looking at the numbers on your paper and they are the exact same numbers for the jackpot but you did not play them?

Here is an alternative to quit playing the lottery. Spend a lot less money by joining a pool.

For the current series of Mega Millions draws, I have been spending only 35 cents per draw. The pool is buying 20 tickets per draw. Not a lot of tickets but still enough to win. My share of the jackpot for the Friday draw is $3 million. This is the cash value and before taxes.

In my search, I came up with 3 systems that compliment each other to have a winning hit at either midday,evening or night 99 days out of 100.!!

My answer would be, DONT hang up the boots if you like dealing with numbers and cashing in tickets for $40, $290 or $500!!

I have that thought regularly. But I am one of those players who has no issue throwing in the towel for years at a time. Most of my 20 years on the LP was not playing.

Last year, the only game I played regularly was the PA match 6. That was most likely because the game goes off every night and I can pick a set of numbers and advance play for 26 days at a time. Your post is exactly where I am at the moment. Sneaking up on 50 years playing and I've never once had a year where I finished ahead. Playing mostly hunches, then systems based on data mining, tic tac toe, rundowns, etc. And have an ongoing pattern of winning a couple hundred, maybe over a thousand only to give it all back and then some. Most state and provincial lotteries still offer 50 cent straight and box pick 3 and pick 4 wagers so those that playing games like that for years probably still play them. It's different with the major jackpot games that made several game changes through the years. Considering players wager $2 to beat 1 : 14,494 odds just to win $100 in PB or 1 : 38,792 MM odds to win the same $500 they can win playing against 1 : 1000 odds for a $1 wager.
