Some of our illusions seeped us before we learned to talk. Others sneaked into us later, while we were busy figuring out how to become ourselves, Eventually, we even made conscious choices to adopt certain illusions because they provided us with comfort and consolation .

Condolences. I too am of the one ticket per draw school. The winning numbers have not yet found me. I would not re evaluate my choice to play a solitary best guess ticket, but if I could find a way to make the smaller games finally pay off, I would have no problem letting the state pay for a few dozen extra shots... the search continues.

80 tickets makes you 80 times as likely to win, but it's also 80 chances to spend $2 and not win anything. As Brock says, the vast majority of people who bought 10, 20, or 100 tickets lost all of their money except for the 15% that goes towards the $4 prizes. Even with 100 tickets you've only got about a 1 in 3 chance of winning $7.
