I would hold off on Lotto playing until after my divorce was finalized.

Striking a deal with anyone would be to WAY to risky regarding the legal ramifications as well as THEY just keeping the winnings to themselves

Exactly correct. There was a prior lp story where a winner failed to disclose a lottery win to a spouse. The court awarded the spouse the entire amount during the divorce.

The law is the law. Follow it. Whether you pick your own numbers or use a system, it is not relevant.

Well menext........ The integrity aspect is a noble trait to consistently maintain..... For this taxpayer it means; the simple act of doing what is right at all times,especially when one believes nobody is watching......Life is never fair when it involves human emotions/thinking on various topics....Skirting the rules is a tricky scenario for anyone.....Besides,it's much easier to stay out of trouble than it is to get out of trouble . Good luck with your future lottery purchases/wins.

Sully, I have always done....the right thing.

Not perfect. But my compass has always been, doing the right thing. No matter who or what is in the equation.

So I will in this case also.

It just isn't fair that she scores half off of an effort I made, where she intentionally did not cross the finish line with me.

And to add, it wasn't just irreconcilable differences. No details need to be displayed, but she tank sold me out to the lowest bidder like it was nothing.

Not playing seems to be the best solution.

Think about it. If the other party gets word this post was made and ties it back to the soon to be ex, it could be enough to convince a judge indeed one party intended to cheat.

Asking a soon to be ex to agree to a no future splits as of now would raise red flags that, unless she is earning more, would cause her to balk.

People who choose to do these things likely aren't posting their intent on the internet.

Taking to a lawyer is the best advice because divorce statues are not one size fits all and vary greatly from state to state. In some states the 50/50 rule applies until the divorce is final.

Not sure if I'd quit playing a large jackpot game because splitting $`100 million is still $50 million better than winning nothing by not playing.

Stop playing until it is final. If the paperwork is still being written, throw in the clause about neither party being entitled to future earnings of the other. Not personally tested, but seems like a simple solution to the dilemma...

When I employed the word dilemma , it's not like I'm caught at an intersection where I'm going to do anything illegal or unethical.

Despite my soon to be ...ex wife....not being deserving of the half, my ethics matter to me more than her ending up with half.

So the beginning query looked like it was framed so I could skirt the law. Quite the contrary.

If it's a fifty/fifty state, it would be illegal to fail to reveal all your assets to the court.

Making a deal with a third party would be a conspiracy to deprive (defraud) the other party of their legal share.

Ask your lawyer what you can do to protect your interest before doing anything that may mean the other party gets the lion's share due to your attempts to deprive them of their fair 50/50 share.
