That is testable with a spreadsheet. When tested for straight mirror hits, there were not enough to have made the game profitable in the long term. (PA pick 3 and 5, both evening mid day).

If your playing more than one then I guess it is as valid as any other replacement strategy, but for trying to get a single play straight system it does nothing special.
