If you think this is stupid, I won't argue. But that's because you don't have the information necessary to make a reasonable appraisal of the situation, what occurred, why there are three investigations and two lawsuits (so far) against the state, the lottery commission, and the people involved.

I suspect some people won't get it until it happens in their state and then they'll be screaming, how could that happen

More than one person can have the winning numbers for a lottery draw. If someone buys a crapload of ticket combinations, all but one will be losers. There is nothing that prevents 1 or 10 or 100 other players from picking that same winning combination.

Lock the fridge. Install cameras in the kitchen. People who live in attics still have to eat and have been known to raid food stashes while the owners sleep.

A good test: Put a pit bull in the kitchen overnight.

Strange he didn't testify at the commission hearing.

I just read on Scorecard that they suspect Grief may have fled to Mexico. His attorney says Grief is home.

Texasscorecard.com is reporting sources are saying authorities have been unable to locate Gary Grief, former executive director of the Texas Lottery Commission.

The legislature is scheduled to have discussions on the lottery matters tomorrow (Thursday). And possibly take a vote.

Either way there is no charges they can file. They have to sue the state of Texas in a Texas court, just like everyone else seems to be doing. I'd like my money back too but my tickets were trashed long ago.

I do think Texas would like to see it in court where they would have the opportunity to prove Jackpocket sold the tickets illegally and leave those guys on the hook... [ More ]

I have heard of something similar before but it was that around 8 people all won a part of a huge jackpot and the Lottery was dragging its heels to payout the money. The Winners were looking to press charges for not paying out on the Jackpot they each won a share of.

Article in the Houston Chronicle says a Houston based attorney has filed a class action lawsuit regarding refunds for the 93.5 million lottery win where substantially all the combinations were bought up by the winner Rook TX.

It also details laws that were broken which means Texas could recover the 93.5 million, or a projected 57 million in one payment due to the monies being illegally paid out.
