I also initially chose 10-12 weeks. With the new economic developments I'm guessing it could be more around the 4 to 6 months mark if it happens at all. I'll be surprised if lottery sales don't completely plummet by June or July.

I picked 10 to 12 weeks as my guess but now that I have seen the rolls so far I think it will probably take four months for it to get to a big jackpot now but once everyone jumps on the band wagon it should have bigger rollovers since it is a $5 ticket price. At least that is my guess who knows though since we have not seen a big drawing yet. Maybe sometime in August we will see our first big one.-weshar75

Interesting! I thought someone said they take half of the sales from each draw for there selfs. I could be completely wrong. I have been super scatter brained lately. Just like when I asked for total ticket sales. After about 5 minutes of thinking about it. I was like duh, you divide it by 5. And this is stuff I learned in elementary school. For Mega last night there were 5,211,327 tickets sold so multiplied by $5 sales were $26,056,635.

in 3 drawings so far it's been pretty consistent at about 5,200,000 tickets sold.

I'm not assuming. The lottery officials whole push for increasing tickets to $5 was because they wanted bigger jackpots more frequently. This poll isn't assuming it will go to a billion during THIS run. It's a poll about when it does have another run to a billion, how many weeks will that take.

And when you consider they are selling half as many tickets now that it's $5 and bringing in more money than before it's a lot more probable for it to get to a billion before it's hit. Sure sometimes... [ More ]

That sucks. I was hoping staggering sales. And a switch back. Good news though. It looks like there taking more of a % in the cash option. I was always curious where the cash option money goes. And if mega millions takes a cut of the tickets sold. Guess I'll start doing some digging around to see if I can find out.

For Mega last night 4/11 there were 5,257,815 tickets sold. So about half as many tickets are being sold but at $5 instead of $2 they are bringing in a couple million $ than before the increase. Doesn't look like people are changing their budgets.

my guess is the regular players will stay in with their previous budgets and people that stay on the sidelines will come in at 600 or 700M jackpots instead of the 300 or 400. But with half as many tickets being sold the jackpot will prob onl... [ More ]

I dunno man. I was on Facebook checking out Mega millions posts. And people seem out raged. But we are definitely going to see who out paces who. In the next couple of weeks. And people seem to not be happy about the bonus x amount being already printed on the ticket too. It's gonna be very interesting to see how this goes. I'm curious to see the numbers on Friday. Cause if I see more grouped numbers like I did on Tuesday. It's gonna be a huge red flag for me.

I was surprised it went to 72. I thought it would only go to 64. The powerball goes to 82 if it isn't hit tonight tho.

I think because the powerball gets 3 drawings a week they're going to stay pretty close.

I considered having an all year option because people might put the money they were using for mm to pb. But people would choose that one from being mad.

I don't see people who used to spend $20 now spending $40 though and that's what it would take to grow a lot faster but a lot of people might jump in at $500M to start pushing up sales.

The second tier prizes do look good but it's going to be interesting to see if it grows a lot faster and higher like they're saying or if too many peo... [ More ]

I would stick with the 13 to 15 week window.

There could be players that stop playing MM or reduce the number of plays to stay at their current budgets.
