I doubt Canada would ever join the Powerball game. Canada just needs to look at the deal United Kingdom got when it joined Powerball. Not a good deal at all. Instead of the game being revenue neutral for United Kingdom, they are operating at a net loss. That is, more money is flowing to United States as a result of their taxation agreement.

So no, my prediction is Canada will never join Powerball.

Powerball could be expanded to Canada, similar to how it was expanded to the UK market.

Canada's population is about 41 million, which is even smaller than the UK's population. Canada also shares a border with only one country, so it is unlikely that people from other countries would cross the border just to buy Powerball tickets and thereby affect the odds.

You could increase the number of white balls to 70 and reduce the number of red balls to 25.

I asked the pool manager if they plan to switch to Powerball from SuperLotto Plus given the Powerball jackpot is now very large.

He said no because the SuperLotto Plus game is a better buy. He explained it this way.

The odds are compared to the size of the jackpot assuming the same amount is spent on each game.

The odds for SuperLotto Plus are 1 in 1 million and the jackpot is $24.7 million. The gives a jackpot 12 times bigger than the odds.

The Powerball and Mega Millions pool is not currently buying tickets. The organizer is waiting for the jackpot to get bigger. I think closer to $200 million cash value.

He did start a SuperLotto Plus pool for the game in California. I do not follow the game and do not know if it is a good option. I joined the pool anyways since you cannot win if you are not in the game.

Big difference in cost and therefore big difference in prize structure.
