In Pick 3, pick three numbers -- any three numbers from 0 to 9 -- and your chances of winning are exactly the same. All 1,000 combinations ... 1 in 1,000 chance, no more, no less. That is fact.

You said you played 993 and they drew 992. The trend was 5 of the last 6 Michigan doubles, and the last 4 in a row were all ghost pair doubles. 992 is a ghost pair double.

Most of what I have learned over the years tends to support Tucker's evaluation, but I still keep trying because with a sensible budget it IS entertainment. Not to mention the volumes learned about programming and spreadsheets along the way.

lotterologist, brah, the difference between blackjack and the lottery is that with blackjack the deck is not reshuffled with the dealt cards after after each deal. the state of the deck changes each time the dealer deals a new round, which is something you can keep track of in order to make better decisions. that is the essence of card counting. and the more decks the dealer uses the harder it is to get that small edge.

I'm not negative, I'm realistic. I'm not assuming pick 3 cannot be beat. I know that it cannot be beat. The lottery picks three digits independent of any drawing they have ever done. It is similar to playing the first hand of a deck in blackjack. The casino has the edge and they will win in the long run.

What are you talking about about? The lottery has lots of games. Some have progressive jackpots and some have fixed prizes. Unlike a few casino games, none of them have any play strategy. Selection of which game to play can have a bit of a strategy.

I know about that book. It's excellent.

I know basic strategy for any rule set, and I know how to count cards.

I also know that a three digit lottery game cannot be beat.

My aunt Buella (she passed a few years ago at the age of 85) used to tell a story about her first husband Roberto going after a performer and a bar in Lansing because he was wearing nothing but chaps and stuck it right in her face. I'm not sayin, but the story is a match. The Chaps had lottery tickets pasted on them and the women would tear one off and replace it with a dollar. It was the only time auntie ever won the lottery.

btw a professional gambler is defined by the IRS as one who makes money in 3 of the 5 previous consecutive years. So it doesn't have to be constant for one to file taxes as a professional gambler.
