The closest i can see is the sequence and pattern on both lotteries. if I can figure out which numbers might be able to hit.

I got my MM ticket for today - am happy that I got a x5 on it.

Yes, $5 feels like alot, but I could also very easily spend $5 on another non significant purchase (I won't say coffee, I don't want to throw all coffee lovers under the bus )

I dont think they care about a bunch of pissed off boomers putting their money elsewhere.

There is no elsewhere for players to put their money, and I think they think the whiners are idiots who don't understand what's happening. PB and MM are managed separately, but they both funnel money from lottery players to state treasuries and aren't competing against each other. It's like thinking the people selling Coke are upset about people not buying Coke because they prefer to spend their money... [ More ]

When jackpots are comparable I'll buy pb tickets when mega is higher I'll buy mm

I dont think they care about a bunch of pissed off boomers putting their money elsewhere. Their timing was terrible but they're getting the results they wanted even if they haven't had a billion dollar run up, they're making more money selling half as many tickets.

Eventually power ball will be the national lottery with Mega Millions breaking up. It will be replaced by several Regional multi state lotteries. For example Texas, Florida, and California will have their own multi state and then the next 10 largest states will pool into their own multi state with the rest of the states having their own multi state lottery.

I could see a new national lottery launching in the $1-$2 per ticket range. People will want something for Tuesday's and Friday's to replace Mega Millions.

I don't see the price of tickets for Mega Millions dropping. There are enough people out there who will keep buying tickets out of habit so it will limp along with the occasional hyped up jackpot run.

I vote same, same. It's too soon for Megamillions to give up on their new and improved product, and Powerball will not repeat the mistake and join the loser lotto club.
