Thanks but it is really a gender neutral issue. If a stranger is offering you something free out of the blue that is of a personal nature, it might be a scam as well. Best to always say no and not be an easy mark.

Lol. For very large wins, lotteries have to do basic due diligence for legal reasons. Asking when and where you got your ticket would be part of a vetting process.

Advising anyone to lie says a lot about some people. So someone comes forward and you lied about the origin of your ticket. Do you think you would be afforded any credibility at that point??? You would set yourself up for a long investigation and possible lawsuit. Why would anyone with any degree of common sense do that

Why would they do that? They don't care. The holder of the ticket is the one who collects the prize.

A big winner would be a fool to say that someone else gave them the ticket. Just claim the prize.

And if you have a major jp win, the state lottery is going to ask you if you purchased your ticket. I am curious what steps would be taken if a jp winner said a stranger gave them the ticket. I guess legal would have them sign an additional statement stating the ticket was an unsolicited gift

I guess it is like a form of risk management. You have to analyze things from a worst case scenario. Be careful taking anything from strangers for free. The majority of people would expect something in return when money is involved.

I often see the same people where I play.

This was a few years ago, though.

This guy worked in the store, always nice,

So, I played, 227 for me, and 227 for him, gave him the ticket.

It hit that evening for $400.00.

So, I went back to the store, the next day, soon as he saw me, he said, 'baby girl, I can't give you nothing, I need to pay a bill , lmaooooooooooooo.

A jackpot winning ticket would surely open a can of worms, especially if the giver follows the news or maybe was playing special numbers and would know it's their ticket that won.

I agree. Being kind or helpful is buying food or gas, etc for a person in need. If the ticket is a bonus fun thing in addition to food, then I can understand.

When I stop at a grocery store lottery machine, I have had men offer me a ticket. I always say no thanks. But other women will take the ticket. It creeps me out.

If there is a jp winner in that store, the gift giver could claim he lost his ticket or I promised to split it with him.

When we had to go to another state to play Powerball we went to Indiana one day. I played a PB ticket and played the same ticket for the young guy working at the gas station where we stopped. The ticket won $110 for both of us.
