The lottery corporation says that gambling is for entertainment.. Then that make's it more worthwhile. If you buy one ticket or more. And hopefully win a good amount of money. God willing

I lived in Vegas for 17 years, people had their favorite games until video games poker arrived. It was like it had an electric magnet that drew people in. There was a therapist in Las Vegas that called video poker 'electronic morphine'.

I feel basically the same way.

When people post about taking chances or investing via lottery gambling like they are creating a start up or multinational corporation, that is complete nonsense. .No executive built a major company from lottery winnings. If someone was meant to build a company, they would have found a way to do it. Winning a huge jp does not make one a financial or business genius.

For me, gambling is a source of entertainment. Or maybe it's a diversion. To be honest, I really don't know what it is or why I gamble.

I never think about value when I buy a lottery ticket. That's because I know playing the lottery is a suckers bet. It hard for me to think about value because the odds are so badly stacked against me, and they're same regardless of the size of the jackpot. (As is the price of one line on a ticket whether it's 1, 2, 3 or 5 dollars)

I like numbers find their correlation to each other very, very interesting.

Consequently, I play my state's lottery system. I'm not too interested in multi state lottery systems. I think sending hundreds of millions of dollars to 1 person is ridiculous will not participate (especially since I play in MD, and believe the lottery system determine where large jackpots go).

I put my lottery budget on my Cash App card, limit myself to $50 per week, yes I have gone over I have won

Mega millions went to $5 a ticket and I said no thanks. for right now. However, there might be a chance I play maybe $15. still not worth it. best thing are the state lottery games.

Even if you lived another 80 years that would only be $29,200 spent over a lifetime.

Risking that over 80 years or on one drawing, the chance of winning the jackpot with 29,200 chances still only covers 5% of the total possible outcomes in a 5/39 game.

I agree. Taking chances in life has zero to do with gambling $. It sounds like you are trying to justify spending perhaps too much money gambling. Playing the lottery is for entertainment purposes only.

Taking chances is about getting that education, going for that promotion, investing for retirement, getting off your behind every day.

Of course gambling is risky. That's the whole point -- risking your money hoping to win.

As far as your statement that everyone should gamble, that is just ridiculous.

People who have gambling addiction should not gamble. People who live paycheck-to-paycheck should not gamble. That leaves about half the population.

State lotteries depend on people gambling more than they should. They sell more tickets in poor neighborhoods because people are trying to win their way out of poverty.... [ More ]

People think gambling is risky. But you know what's even more risky? Going through your whole life without taking any chances. In my opinion everyone should be gambling at least a small amount of their net worth each year. Say even 1%. Think about it. If you gambled $1 every single day on a pick 5 or fantasy 5 thats only $365 a year. Even if you lived another 80 years that would only be $29,200 spent over a lifetime. A jackpot on a pick 5 or fantasy 5 would easily be 6 figures if you hit it once... [ More ]
