I believe there are pros and cons to everything, including living on a 500 acre piece of land away from everyone.

I see that all the time on the House Hunters Show. The husband wants to live away from everyone. The wife wants a community where the kids can play with the neighbors kids.

A place where friends can come visit etc.

It's always interesting to watch.

People and preferences always change, what looks appealing now, ceases to be after some years and the opposite is true.... [ More ]

Very true indeed. Gates provide a false sense of security. I live in a gated community and all those gates do is keep out people that mean no harm and solicitors. The bad guys cant be stopped getting in the community even with the gates closed. There is no security guard in the guard house at the gates either. The HOA says it's too expensive to hire security guards and won't pay for them.

I mentioned that it would be a good idea to move to a very rural place like a very rural small town like Lost Springs, Wyoming to avoid being hassled for lottery winnings but it's a much better idea to move to a gated wealthy, community in say Beverly Hills where all of the residents are wealthy and wouldn't be hassling you for money since they are already wealthy themselves. If I was to go there, I would do 3 to 4 month rentals. That way I don't have to spend a fortune paying for utilities, taxes, maybe a caretaker as well.

Then I can go to different islands every winter

I wonder if I won I would do that.

Sometimes I feel what one plans before the actual win changes like 95% after the win.

I'm going to play Devil's Advocate and say that the correlation between the fake long lost sister trying to scam for insurance money and winning the lottery and moving away is the fact that if someone can try to fake family relations for an insurance scam the same person could try to scam for lottery money by faking family relations which is why moving to an undisclosed location after winning the lottery is needed.

Looks like someone stole my story of a false relative claim. Not buying it. An alleged relative would have no claim to a life insurance payout unless they were named as a beneficiary so a DNA test would never be needed. It would be a moot issue. So all that would be needed would be to tell the person to go to you know where.

I chose over 1000 miles away.. That's at least a state away. I live in a very popular and heavily populated city so I would want to move far away, move to a small town/rural place where I could enjoy my jackpot in peace without a lot of people hassling and harassing me for money. I'd want to move to a place like Wyoming that's not really popular or heavily populated.
