Glad I'm keeping an eye on this thread.....

For some reason, I thought the drawing for June 1st was TONIGHT, and was planning on checking my tickets via the Florida Lottery App on my iPhone tomorrow morning. But when I saw you guys each won $100, I checked my tickets. Not a winner so far for each and every one of them.

Had I won a $100, I'd buy 5 more tickets with that money!!!! No such luck. I might buy one more ticket this week, and one more late in June.

The Florida Lottery finally updated their weekly sales data. Their potential total sales figure comes to 379128.

One thing I saw that I hadn't noticed before was this note on the bottom of the sales update page: *Ticket sales will continue through June 30, 2026, or until 2,000,000 tickets are sold, whichever occurs first.

The Lottery hasn't updated the weekly Raffle sales data yet, but I bought a ticket this morning around 11:00, a week after the lottery's last update.

My ticket was 2775xx, and the lottery's last reported was 263272. 2775xx minus 263272 equals 14228. 14228 divided by 7 equals an average of 2032 tickets drawn per day this past week.

We're 89 days into the Raffle, so 2775xx divided by 89 equals 3118. 3118 times 122 (number of days in the Raffle) equals a potential total sales figure of 38... [ More ]

it's good from the players standpoint of lower odds to win a million dollars, but whether or not the Florida Lottery will cut the number of winners from 10 down to a lower number due to lower sales is another thing altogether. I read the official rules but can't recall seeing anything about that.

Seventy-five days into Raffle sales, the average sold per day is 3308. Per Florida Lottery, the Raffle sales weekly update is 190300 as of 4-24. We're 55 days in, so average daily sales are at 3460 per day, slightly under last week's 3540 average. So 3460 times 122 (total days of sales in the raffle) would equal 422,120 tickets sold. 640900 Tickets need to be sold just to fund all of the prizes.

I tend to agree with almost everything you wrote, but there is one thing I'm not sure about.

In Pennsylvania (a state that's held a Millionaire Raffle for maybe the last 20 consecutive years) something happened six or seven years ago that was caused by what some called Raffle Fatigue on the part of players. In almost every year, the PA Lottery usually begins selling Millionaire Raffle tickets in early October, and the drawing is held shortly after The New Years Day Holiday.

I think they're doing a raffle as just a way to shake it up and try something different. Raffles do well in other states, so maybe they can catch on here too.

I'd think that a first or second time (in so many years) might fly under the radar, but bring awareness to this new way to play after it concludes and later if a new round begins. I'm thinking about buying more tickets, but the big question for me is how many would I buy?

I posted above that I won 40 bucks (cash) and I did buy one ticket with that money. I still have the other twenty dollar bill in my wallet, so maybe I'll buy another ticket with that. For now I'm keeping my eye on the raffle just to see what happens. Sales have been slow... about 3600 a day, so if they remain slow that'll have some bearing on whether or not I'll buy more.

Wanted to update/correct my previous figures, as for some reason I thought there were only three interim prize periods, and there are actually four. Bottom line, 640,900 tickets need to be sold to fund all prizes to be awarded in the Raffle (interim prizes and Grand Prizes.) The duration of the raffle is 122 days, so sales need to average 5,245 tix a day. Based on the Lottery's figure of 169,906 tix sold as of 4/17 , sales are averaging 3,540 tix/day so far. As far as I know, you'd have to set up a double blind trust fund through a lawyer in order to stay anonymous.

When you look through lists of winners, you see that some are claimed to an LLC. These are the people that had a double blind trust claim the winnings on their behalf in order to stay anonymous.

I have my doubts that 2 million tickets can be sold considering the time of year The Florida Lottery is running what they're calling 'a promotion'.

The Pennsylvania Lottery's Millionaire Raffle ticket selling window is during the fourth quarter of the year. It gets a nice boost in sales during Christmas when people gift raffle tickets. I'll be getting fewer tickets going forward, because I definitely think that the best shot at winning something was in the first round. Before awareness spreads, and before the million dollar fever sets in.

I think that sales will increase as people come to find out about the raffle. Winning something meaningful enough (the prizes between 5k and 100k) won't be as easy . OK, so for each of the three interim drawings, $704,500 in prizes are awarded. That makes a grand total of $ 2,113,500 in prizes for all three interim periods.

The grand prize drawing will award a minimum of (10) $1,000,000 prizes, for a total of $10,000,000 in prizes in the Grand Prize drawing.

Bought a ticket today around noon in the 117,000 range. Looking at Winterbird's sales data chart (thanks WB!) it seems reasonable to estimate 4,000 more sales today, to put the total sales for interim draw 1 at around 121,000.

So if this estimate is close to actual sales, then it looks like odds of winning one of the 2,498 prizes in interim draw #1 would be 1:48. Odds on both the $100,000 and $10,000 prize tiers would be 1:40,333. $5,000 is 1:24,200 $1,000 is 1: 10,083 $500 is 1:537 $100 is... [ More ]

You're obviously too young to recall the days of hundreds of thousands (a million maybe?) paper lottery tickets inside of a spinning 7 foot tall wire mesh drum with a trap door in it.

The drawing was held in a theater in front of a live audience, the drum sitting up there spinning on the stage.

Calculating the straight odds of a raffle is easy, at least by prize tier. You divide the number of tickets sold by the number of prizes.

Like for example, if by the end it sells 900,000 tickets, then the odds for the million are 1:90,000. If it sells 1,400,000 tickets, the odds are 1:140,000.

There are additional prizes added at the half mil increments of sales. So if it sells 1,600,000 tickets the odds are 1:106,6666.

Odds and probability both describe the same thing (basically, chances of winning ) but in a different format.

If I flip a fair coin, the probability of it landing on heads is 1/2, or 0.5, or 50% (all the same number). The odds of it landing on heads are 1:1. Clearly, 1 and 1/2 are significantly different numbers. That's why odds uses the : while probability uses the . so you don't mix them up.

Bought another ticket yesterday. In the 98,000 range. I'm good with that. The less tickets sold prior to the April 1st drawing the better. Was thinking that the number was going to be higher.

The clerk in the gas station didn't know what it was I asked her for. Is this something new they just started? she asked me. G5

Bought a second ticket today. Number was almost 20,000 higher than my first ticket. Was in the 56,000 range. Still low numbers

I'll buy more as time goes on. Not sure how many, and I'll wait a while before I buy again. G5

I got two tickets, two days apart. In those two days between my tickets, they've sold 7300 tickets.

I would expect the biggest bumps in sales to be ahead of the first monthly drawing on April 1st, and ahead of the million dollar draw on July 2. Those two dates are incentive-heavier.

People probably aren't running to buy a $20 ticket that still has three weeks until first draw and almost four months until the million draw.

Not even a scratch off? I've bought multiple raffle tickets the last time but I'm one and done on this one. There are only 10 winners if 1,000,000 and less are sold and 20 winners if all 2 million raffles are sold. I know last time I don't even think they reach a million in sales but it'll be interesting to see how this one does given our current state of affairs.

I hope it's clear that I noted in as much as $20 a play is a lot, given the $1M prize and the 1:100,000 odds, I too would be in the game, at least for one shot.

Its not everyday that we have 1:100,000 odds at a $1M prize.

I know Lotto Motto can appreciate what I'm about to write because he/she is located in Miami.

I mostly play Florida Fantasy5 due to it's 376,992 to 1 odds. Fantasy5's jackpots aren't exactly life changing. Midday draws pay out roughly $45,000 before taxes to a single winner. The Evening Fantasy5 draw pays approximately $100,000 to a single jackpot winner. (Again, before taxes)

I was agreeing with Justmaybe that $20 for a single lottery ticket is steep. My Sister won $400 on a $20 lottery ticket but I still can't justify paying $20 on a single lottery ticket..

Twenty bucks a throw is steep. That's why whenever there's a raffle (which isn't all that often) I cut back on the other lottery games I regularly play. That's what keeps me from over spending my monthly lottery budget.

My thinking is the 20 dollar ticket price is a premium players have to pay for the greatly reduced odds of winning a top prize, not to mention there's a guaranteed jackpot winner(s). Many is the time I've heard a player say about a raffle Players... [ More ]

A $20 ticket for a chance, to win $1 million is steep I agreed with you. I balk at $5 lottery tickets, there's no way I can justify $20 for a chance to win $1 million. I'd honestly rather buy 4 $5 Mega millions tickets(And I absolutely detest $5 Mega millions tickets with every fiber of my being) for a chance to win $496 million than 1 $20 Millionaire raffle ticket.

The $20 price is steep for me, lol, but given the $1M prize and the 1:100,000 odds, I think it's a risk worth taking.

I would have taken that risk if I was in Florida. $630,000 after taxes is a decent win.

I kinda knew when I went into that liquor store that the clerk wouldn't know anything about them.....

My state had a raffle last year. I enjoyed playing. If I was close to Florida. I would definitely buy a ticket. The live drawing seems good to. My state it was computer generated i think...I am confused by how many tickets they sell versus pay outs. Mabye I'm reading it wrong. But anyways.... Good luck if your playing. And have a great day
