You missed a very important point.

With a top prize instant ticket you have to be in the store where the winning ticket is sent and with the raffles you can buy the top prize winner from any terminal anywhere in that state.

A raffle is not much different than a scratch off ticket. The difference is that you have to wait for the drawing in a raffle whereas a scratch off ticket you can find out immediately.

In both cases you don't choose the ticket sequence number (basically the determinant of winners) and in both cases the payback percentage is higher than draw games (generally speaking).

The winning numbers will be generated by a random number generator. (A computer program)

Speculation on my part but an automated process could easily put in place by setting up the RNG program to automatically start to execute on July 2nd. There wouldn't be a need for an employee of the Fla Lottery to be in the office to manually run/submit the RNG program.

Updating the lottery's website with the winning numbers is most likely automated too. There are 2500 $100 winners. Can't see... [ More ]

All Lottery offices are closed from July 2nd to July 6th. How they will do the drawings ? I always have doubts on Florida Lottery aunthencity, especially only able to sell 370000 tickets. Not even Breakeven. I bought 6K raffles tickets in 2016. Guess what I won? 0.00. And Florida Lottery only announced 3 top prize winners out of 7. Still no public record of other 4.

3689xx at 10 pm. About 100 sold in the 15 mins prior to me buying mine, because a neighbor got a ticket that's a 100-ish lesser number than mine and he got it a quarter to ten.

I don't know if they're selling until midnight or what. I got mine when the grocery store was closing. The gas station by me is kind of sketch so I didn't want to go there for something closer to midnight.

This exact thing happened to me in interim drawing two. Not gonna lie, I did have a brief (redacted) moment, but it didn't last, because it was based on emotional thinking/faulty logic. I didn't bother to post about it because it was a non-event. They are going to draw a total of around 7500 interim prizes, so that means around 15,000 0ne-off tickets.

Florida Lottery's weekly sales update posted today is 347335. Subtracting last week's update number of 330394 gives 16941 tickets sold in the past week. That averages only 2420 sold per day for the week. After a total of 117 sales days so far, that averages to 2969 sold per day. There are only five sales days left. They might not even hit 400,000.

The current raffle is capped at 2,000,000 tickets. But ticket sales have been so slow since March 1st when tickets first went on sale, there's no way they'll ever sell 2,000,000. As of yesterday they've only sold about 337,000. The sales cycle ends on June 30th, so the odds of them selling out 2 million tickets have a snowball's chance in Hell. Gotta love that if you're a player.

Raffles are the one lottery format where the odds are fully knowable up front fixed ticket pool, fixed prizes, no randomness in the denominator once sales cap. I'm guessing that The Fla Lottery wont post on their website how many raffle tickets were actually sold. So I came up with a crazy idea. There's a gas station not far from my house. I might run over there around 7/8 PM on June 30th and buy a ticket.

Doing that won't reveal the total number of tickets that were actually sold, but it should reveal a pretty good approximation of total sales.

The Florida Lottery has changed the Top Prize Winners and Retailers Information Report to now include second tier prize winners of $1,000,000 for PowerBall.

I don't know when they did it, but there are now winners names of players that matched 5 numbers in PB. (The player won a Second place prize) Some players were smart and used the Florida law that allows for a player to temporarily claim anonymity for 90 days.

It'll pick up in the last week or so. The few days prior to the past drawings, the pace picked up to 5000+ per day. Which still isn't a ton, but it's more than 2000. I imagine that it'll pick up more than that ahead of the final drawing for the big bucks. I think we'll be at around 400,000 sold, unless the last pop ends up being significant. I've been calculating my personal odds with a final figure of 450k, to be safe.

They very well have misjudged how players are thinking these days.

They do say that this particular raffle is a promotion which makes me think it's not going to be offered again anytime soon. If ticket sales don't materialize like they want/need, then I doubt they'll bring it back.

Looks like the last Raffles were in 2016 and 2017.

Go to the lottery homepage, navigate to Media Resources/ Annual Reports and have a look at the sales graphs. 2007 was the year with the highest Raffle sales of any year that had a Raffle.

I still think it was the drop in scratch-off sales in '24 that sparked this year's Raffle. Guess they miscalculated the players' willingness to drop $20 per play.

Does anyone know when the last millionaire raffle was held? I moved to Florida in 2020 and this raffle is the first one I've seen.

I doubt anybody but the Florida Lottery knows if there was a ticket buying frenzy toward the back end of the sales cycle for the previous raffle.

The Lottery hasn't updated the weekly Raffle sales data yet, but I bought a ticket this morning around 11:00, a week after the lottery's last update.

My ticket was 2775xx, and the lottery's last reported was 263272. 2775xx minus 263272 equals 14228. 14228 divided by 7 equals an average of 2032 tickets drawn per day this past week.

232407 tickets sold as of 05/08, up 18219 from last Friday's sales update from Florida Lottery. At 69 days in, that averages 3368 sold per day. If sales proceed at this rate, it will be around 411000 total sold by the end of the raffle.

I may buy anther one before the next drawing...

Got anther Raffle ticket when I stopped at Publix today. Over 4500 tickets have been sold since the Lottery put out their most recent sales update. Maybe Saturday is the hot Raffle-buying day! Anyway, I walked up to the lottery counter, and said I'd like a $20 Raffle ticket. (I always mention the price, because if I don't, diligent clerks ask if I know that the price is $20.) Per Florida Lottery, the Raffle sales weekly update is 190300 as of 4-24. We're 55 days in, so average daily sales are at 3460 per day, slightly under last week's 3540 average. So 3460 times 122 (total days of sales in the raffle) would equal 422,120 tickets sold. 640900 Tickets need to be sold just to fund all of the prizes.

I tend to agree with almost everything you wrote, but there is one thing I'm not sure about.

In Pennsylvania (a state that's held a Millionaire Raffle for maybe the last 20 consecutive years) something happened six or seven years ago that was caused by what some called Raffle Fatigue on the part of players. In almost every year, the PA Lottery usually begins selling Millionaire Raffle tickets in early October, and the drawing is held shortly after The New Years Day Holiday.

I think they're doing a raffle as just a way to shake it up and try something different. Raffles do well in other states, so maybe they can catch on here too.

I'd think that a first or second time (in so many years) might fly under the radar, but bring awareness to this new way to play after it concludes and later if a new round begins. I'm thinking about buying more tickets, but the big question for me is how many would I buy?

I posted above that I won 40 bucks (cash) and I did buy one ticket with that money. I still have the other twenty dollar bill in my wallet, so maybe I'll buy another ticket with that. For now I'm keeping my eye on the raffle just to see what happens. Sales have been slow... about 3600 a day, so if they remain slow that'll have some bearing on whether or not I'll buy more.

Wanted to update/correct my previous figures, as for some reason I thought there were only three interim prize periods, and there are actually four. Bottom line, 640,900 tickets need to be sold to fund all prizes to be awarded in the Raffle (interim prizes and Grand Prizes.) The duration of the raffle is 122 days, so sales need to average 5,245 tix a day. Based on the Lottery's figure of 169,906 tix sold as of 4/17 , sales are averaging 3,540 tix/day so far.
